Mizuno RB Tour X

I sweep the ball badly. Because of that my spin tends to be low, really low. That causes fliers from almost any lie. I saw a review where the TXG guys found the Mizuno RB Tour X to spin more than most other balls. I bought some and I am now playing them. They do spin a lot off irons and wedges. They do not spin a ton off of the driver. The driver may have some higher spin shots but I think it is just me.

I am confident of these results because I hit many, many balls on a GC2 with HMT.

 

The net effect is that my distance range for all my irons has come way down to a reasonable number. When I was playing for fliers I would come up shot when I did not hit a flier. I am hoping this will correct it. Time will tell.

I tried these out and personally wasn’t a fan. The spin and feel were good but the durability was terrible. Used a brand new ball on a par 5 and after one hole it had three major cuts in the cover. Do you experience the same durability problems?

PredsFan02 I totally agree with the durability, I tend to have high ball spin with my driver and fairway woods and was looking for a low spin ball but something I could spin with my irons. I had read the reviews over in Europe and couldn't wait to get my hands on them here in the states. Finally picked up a dozen at Miles of Golf and hit the course, they were awesome off the driver but by the 5th and 9th hole I found my self replacing balls because they kept being cut with my wedges. I don't know if it was a bad batch or something but through the course of the dozen I used the durability seemed just horrific to me. I use the rest of them occasionally now and then nut have gone back to my Bridgestones. If durability could be improved i would game them every round!

I believe Mizuno reworked the ball to address cover durability. I have no personal experience with them, but have read that.

The cover seems as durable as any other in my brief experience. What I really like is the distance consistency on a well struck shot. Through a few rounds the reality is matching the theory. It makes me more comfortable over the shot and I am picking the right club not fearing hitting a knuckler over the green. My driver distance seems unaffected also.

I was given a couple sleeves and played 18 with the ball yesterday. Only mark on the ball was a cart path scuff that I got on 17. I normally play the TP5x. The Mizuno ball has more of a clicky sound to it. I did hit some longer than normal drives and had a few iron shots go longer than normal. The ball seemed to hold the green just fine. It did launch much higher than the TP5x with the driver. A couple times way too high for my liking. Overall I thought the ball was fine and I'll play out the rest of the sleeves to see if anything changes.

I did play many more rounds with the ball and it does spin a lot off irons which makes my distances more consistent. BUT the cover does get scuffed up pretty easily. I will continue to play them though.

Great ball, but yes, not very durable.
