Not me but a friend. He was struggling every hole on the front 9. Sometimes he's decent and sometimes he struggles. This was the worst I've ever seen him struggle. Every drive was either aimed down the middle and sliced off the course or he's aim left and it would stay left. Finally, on the 10th hole he crushes one straight down the middle. His ball hits the 150 pole in the center of the fairway and ricochets sideways into deep rough. It was tough to watch. Don't know if it's Covid19 related or change in policy but the course got rid of the 150 poles in the middle of the fairways this season.

370 yard par 4 uphill 150 pole was made from granite. Hit it flush on the fly and ball rockets right back down the hill coming to rest on the ladies tee box resulting in a roughly 10 yard drive?

At the course I learned to play on there was one hole that had trees on the right hand side that I was in pretty much all the time. Finally hit one down the pipe one day and it hit a sprinkler and went directly right into the forest.

I hit a bad drive on a 420 yard dogleg right Par 4 on #12 while 1-down in my club's 2020 matchplay semifinals. My ball came to rest up against a tree just right of the cart path 200 yards out. I had no shot whatsoever. All I can do is play straight out sideways back to the fairway and take my chances to hope bogey is good enough for a tie. Cart path is probably 5 yards away from me, so I hit the ball with this little pitch stroke with a 7-iron just to get it back into the short grass and make sure I get some club on it.

My ball carries about 10 feet over the cart path into the fairway... but then I hear the tink when it hits the ground, and it ricochets straight back to me on the fly and rests up against the exact same tree again. My jaw drops, as does my cart mate's.

Me: "What the f@#$ did that hit?!"

Cart Mate: "I have no earthly idea... I have never seen that in all my life..."

We go inspect, and it turns out that the cart path had cracked right there, and a piece of the asphalt from the cart path had broken off and was buried in 1st cut 10 feet away from the cart path on the fairway side. I was playing smart golf, took my medicine, PERFECTLY executed a 10 yard carry pitch out just to give myself a 200 yard 3rd shot on a Par 4, and STILL ended up with the exact same shot laying 2 because I didn't account for hitting a hidden piece of asphalt in the 1st cut on the fly....

Needless to say I lost that hole to go 2-down and got closed out on #17, 2&1.

Did you ever watch the big break? Tony Finau hammered a drive something like 350 down the middle of one hole during the final match. He air mailed his competitor by a mile. So far it hit a cart path that crosses the fairway and bounced straight into the water . This cost him the win. I was gutted as I really wanted to see him win. I'd say he recovered well from that bad break.

On a side note, as a walker, I can't stand cart paths. Nothing worse than seeing your ball skipping down a cart path into oblivion.

Par 3 way downhill and over the water. You know it, hit the flag dead straight, one bounce in the water. Make five. Cart girl saw the whole thing and wanted to give me a free beer, but I quit drinking awhile ago.

We had a USGA qualifier at our course, and the 150 poles were removed prior to play. A guy hits a tee shot right down the middle, and into the sun. They get up there, and can’t find his ball. They search for 5 minutes, and he has to re tee. After he hits, they find his ball in the hole for the 150 pole. Our course no longer has 150 poles.

Was playing in a match once and was down 1 hole on #18. It was a par 5. I hit my drive perfect and had a hybrid in, hit it near perfect again but just missed the green, it took a really weird bounce into a bunker and ended up in a deep footprint. Guy i was playing against made a par and i lost.

Not a crazy bad break, but i still remember that shot

This was early in my golfing life so it's not nearly as bad of a dagger as some of these, but here's mine:

Long but very straight par 5. Totally flat and VERY wide open. I struggle greatly off the tee, but I crushed a drive right down the middle. Still had 210 left. I hit my hybrid very solid with a nice high draw. I've never had an eagle putt before and was already excited as it was right at the stick.

My ball hit the flagstick on the fly and ended up in a super deep bunker. I was glad it was the 17th hole as it took the wind out of my sails.

I hit the flag pole a few weeks ago and the ball ended up way off the green in some really thick rough. The ball hit the flag about 10 inches above the cup. It must of hit it squarely because it ricocheted like a rocket back at me. Turned a possible birdie in a double because I chunked the chip out of the rough.
