Not sure about the lines on the MC and the 770 with speed slot and foam etc just spells nuke balls to me. Had some jumpers when I tried the 760s. Don't need my 6 iron randomly going 220 thank you.

I’ve been playing the 790s since they first came out. Originals and now 2019 v2.

I think, in many instances, these "flyers" would happen regardless of construction. The impact location and spin/launch dynamics are what cause the increased carry. If you catch one high, maybe toward the toe, possibly with a bit of a closed face, it's going to produce a higher launch with lower spin and fly the green no matter what club you are using.

 

This could also be influenced by the sole design as many of the clubs that incorporate foam have wider soles with more bounce when compared to a more traditional forging.

 

This from a buy who has played the P760s as well as tons of straight forgings such as my current gamers, Miura TC-201.

The 770 looks fantastic and might be a real winner. In terms of performance & feel, the 2019 790 is the best of the "Player's Distance" irons I've owned or tried - including the original 790, AP3, T-MB, T200, and i500. Would really like the same thing in a slightly more tidy package.

My only real gripe with the 790 is the PW. For me, even at 1 degree strong (44) it still tends to produce a high & weak trajectory. I'm actually thinking about getting a T-100s PW (44 degree) to go with my Vokeys. Would be great if the 770 is a little more traditional in wedge construction.

Yup saw it on the gram yesterday. The p770 is pretty nice. The MC ... at first I didn't like it, but it's growing on to me.

I'm super interested in the P770. I may be off here in that I think an overlooked area is an iron with some of the tech of the distance irons with a little more traditional lofts. I suppose the T100 models kinda fit here. Maybe this new P770 is TMs answer to that. Personally, I could use some more launch. I like the idea of an iron with the 790 tech in a 33 degree 7 iron.

I also play Miura CBs (1008) and have experimented with this construction and, honestly, they just seem a bit less consistent to me. I'm not some hacker who half fats it or pulls it and thinks they got a flier. I play with a former D1 college guy who's still scratch and he's got the new 2019 P790 bent weak and I've seen him get nukers into the fescue on fantastic swings. If you buy into it, hey good for you but as a player with plenty of distance I value control over added speed. I also think you can get great ball speed without this stuff, my clubs are a great example of that.

I was going to pick up a set of mizuno JPX HMP but I may have to wait now. Hopefully the price of the 770s isn’t absurd.

I wonder if the 770s are gonna be like the Nike Vapor Pro Combos? Speed foam in 3-7 and than more forged like in the 8-PW.

I'm hoping the 770s have the exact same lofts as the T-100S, particularly in the 7-P with consistent 4 degree gaps. Not that they can't be bent (as I've done with my 790s), but 10 degrees from 8 thru P is too much for me.

I don't have Instagram so I haven't seen them yet, but I'm looking forward to this release and to Mizuno's new 919's. Both usually make great irons. The 790's are great, even though I personally like something that's a bit more of a player's iron, so if that's what the new 770's are, that's a great move for TM. Looking forward to seeing these.
