Please help Putting Stroke !

Seems like every few years I start one of these threads but now its costing me. I have the game of a scratch but struggle on the green.

I've been told I "slice" my putts - I aim left and hit across it - I usually miss right on a push - sometimes I pull it but not too often - miss is almost always right.

I think I'm lined up but I'm not. Putter doesn't matter - I usually play a newport - I switched to triple track 2 ball and had a few good honneymoon rounds but it's back to my shittty putting self.

 

Anybody cure the "slicing" of putts? Should I look for a specific putter to help my alignment?

When I hit the handle up higher I hit it straighter. I was told I should bent more at the waist and get eyes over the ball more.. Maybe a 33" putter would help?

Last 5 rounds were 73 74 75 75 73. That is with some horrific putting.

 

I know I should take a lesson but I did last year and it didn't help... And honestly wrx has cured most of by golf woes by swing tips or equipment advice.

Common issue here is too much hip rotation. Just a guess from seeing that be the issue of players of every skill level.

I was the same as you. "Cut" my putts without even knowing I was doing it.

Long story short, I cured it by doing four things:

Went to a CLOSED stance so that my shoulders could not be "open" at addressUsed the line on my putts and "trained" my eye to where it felt natural.Committed to learning how to roll the ball end over end so that there was NO WOBBLE in the line.Went to the clawVoila. I have averaged 28.5 to 29 putts per round for the last two years. That is 1.5 to 2.5 strokes per round better than I was four years ago.

I have battled the outside in putting stroke for years. One solution that works is to watch the putter head swing back and through making sure it stays on path. Yeah I know that is supposed to be a 'wrong' thing to do but it works in my case especially on short putts.

Another thing you could try is a round putter grip as advised by David Edel:

I started with using a Trident Align marker to get everything dead nut perfect - but I found that in a competitive round I was pressing to use it properly and It wasn't effective - for me. I still use it as a training tool to ensure the end-over-end roll, but I can't use it during an actual round. Combine all the above data with a properly fit (on a SAM lab) putter - confidence in the stroke has never been higher. I'm averaging 31 putts over the last 7 rounds (5 were actual tournaments)...which is 5-6 fewer than last year.
