Chrome soft vs TP5

Hey guys. This year I’ve switched to the P790 irons and they just don’t seem compatible with my current ProV1 ball. I’m thinking I need a bit more spin from my ball to help with consistency and ball flight. If anyone has played the Chrome soft vs the TP5 I’d appreciate some feedback as these appear to launch higher and spin more than my current ball. How do they differ in distance, greenside spin, driver performance, and anything else you may have noticed? Thanks!

TP5 will definitely spin more than the Chrome Soft. TP5 and BXS are the highest spinning balls I have tested.

The Mizuno ball spins more than anything else. The 2018 Bridgestone Tour B XS spins quite a bit too. TP5 spins more than CS, but still isn’t high spin off the irons.

I play Tp5 and I think it’s a superior ball to chrome soft. Bridgestone is another good option like others mentioned.

Bstone BXS or Mizuno RBX spin a ton.

In my testing, on a launch monitor, the TP5 spins very similarly to the 2020 BXS. I have not tested the Mizuno ball, but have read it does spin a lot.

Thanks guys. I played the Bstone b330s years ago but never thought of them as higher spin. I’ll have to get a sleeve of the newer ball and give it a test. Seems like a good ball to try with the TP5.

You wont see much of a difference on the driver. You should see some in the mid, short irons. The tp5 will be higher spin. As far as around the greens with partial wedges, it should be relatively close, at least not enough to notice a difference. If you want even more, the mizuno ball is king for spin.

I'm a staunch CS guy. Have been for 4 years. But the TP5 is the only other ball I'd consider playing, and I've tested them all just this year again (and I do mean all of them). Your best bet is to get on a launch monitor somewhere, even a big box store, and hit each ball to get actual data. Otherwise everyone will share their opinion, but our swings, angle of attack, etc, are all different.
To me, both balls appeared to play very closely. The difference, which I always come back to with CS, is the soft feel. It's the feel off the putter face and wedges. Both balls to my naked eye and judging stuff off ball flight, chips, etc, I was getting expected results from both. I also liked the new pattern of the TP5. But I can't get over the feel of the CS. It keeps me coming back.

Has anyone noticed a ball flight difference between the CS, TP5, and now the BXS?

I like the TP5 a lot and up until 2020 I would have chosen it over the Chrome Soft. But this year's CS has been very good to me - distance, spin, feel and score.

But one of the reasons I chose it over TP5 is I'm a big believer in playing the same ball. So with the TP5 at the end of its two year cycle and the 2020 CS starting this year I figured I should get a an 18-24 month run with this ball.

In my opinion, TP5 is a superior ball to the 2020 CS. From what the OP asked, TP5 would be my choice.

Keep in mind that everyone’s spin characteristics are different, based on multiple factors. The TP5 may not be the right ball for you, ultimately, but it is a great place to start.

Agree and the great thing about the tp5 line is quite a separation between the tp5 and the tp5x performance wise. In my opinion alot of other balls x versions are just firmer feeling versions of the same ball.
