Great round until...

Was playing a great round yesterday. 3 under through 10 and no bogies heading into a section of the course I play best.

Number 11 was a 165 yard par 3 with the tees pushed all the way right against the tree line. I flushed an 8. Looked up and didn't notice a tree branch covering half the green. I play a draw and the ball was turning onto the stick. I heard leaves and didn't see the ball come out. My wife who was on the ladies tee said it hit a branch popped straight up, clipped another branch and landed just outside the fence. The tees are never there so I didn't even think to look up. My next shot I had to hit a cut just to find the green. I was so pissed I imploded and shot 6 on the back to end at plus 3.

I was just so frustrated by something so stupid on a shot that came off the club so good. Hopefully tomorrow is better and I keep my head from exploding.

Bad break for sure. But learn from it. You can't get upset if you hit a good shot and made a mental mistake not noticing the tree limb. As tough as it is, you've got to accept what happened and move on. It's the only way to consistently shoot lower scores. If you implode from one bad break or one bad shot, you'll rarely have a good day.

I know the pain! A few years ago I was playing one of the best rounds of my life, 4 under going into the 16th! Well I guess you know where this is going... I finished double, triple, double. It was the worst feeling of my golf life. I was basically unconscious the whole round until I stepped on the tee box of 16. Haven't really mentally recovered from that day!

golf is weird. Stuff like that happens, you always tend to bogey the easiest holes in your best rounds LOL. Yesterday i shot a 74 on a course with 5 par-5's and i bogeyed each one . In the end it was still a good round but hard not to think what it could've been without going +5 on the easiest holes

I know how you feel. I think I get angrier than usual at a shot that I know I struck well, but ends up catching a bad break, than I do at just shots that are just the result of a bad swing. At least when I swing poorly I can blame something I can somewhat control (me).

Shot 72 last year, doubled 9 & 18.

That round hurt for a few weeks.

Bad break for certain. How is it my ball can hit a 2” branch 95% of the time, but some days can’t find a 40 yard fairway???

2 weeks ago, I was +1 on 16 tee with 3 consecutive birdie holes. Proceeded to hook it OB on a par 3 and made a 5. Finished with 2 lips outs on 16/17 and a birdie on 18 for 74 on the toughest course in my area. Hate this game haha.

I just had one of those rounds, + 1 through 5, after doubling 1, played terrible on 6,7,8,9 finished +11. Not a single "blow up hole" but 2 doubles and 2 triples. Overall a disappointing round considering how well I started, but I'm trying to take some positives out of it. I limited myself to 1 tee shot mulligan and 1 during hole mulligan and I stuck to that, and if I can hit a halfway decent tee shot I can score well. I need to work on GIR, I'm usually around 22%, combine that with the disappearance of my short game and that leads to some ugly holes.
