Just shot 36 / 43

Hold my beer - couple years ago shot 31/40 (par 72) with 7 birdies and 2 doubles (both PW in hand, middle of the fairway).

Yep been there many times. I found that my game was there to make consistent pars, I just had to learn how and where to miss to increase chances of getting up and down or when to just trust yardages to get center green when you know sticking it near the pin is just not worth the risk.

I feel your pain. Last weekend shot 34 - 42. Usually very happy with 76, just never did it this way.

Just shot a 42-35 myself today. Started with a snap hook driver on the 1st, then completely changed my driver setup to get the hook out of my system. Basically felt like I was going to slice the driver, but everything went bullet straight to minor fades. Did great off the tee & approach, which really protected my weak pitching & chipping.

Was my turn today... Front nine is almost always my worst and I come home strong to make up for it... Today not so.

It's a pain that the worst of the day (double on the 11th and 3 putting the last) keep playing back in my head

First time I ever broke 90 was similar

front 9 I shot a 39 with 5 pars and 1 birdie, then had to make a 10’ putt on the back 9 to secure a 50 and shoot 89

had a round this year where I dropped a 60 on the front 9 and then returned more to normal on the back with a 46

Lol, I did something similar last night, but when the order is different it feels way better. 42-37 to break 80 for the first time this year. I had 2 drops from dunking it into the creek on the front 9. This is the first time I've ever broken 80 where the back 9 was lower. Usually I'll shoot a 37 or so and hold on for dear life for the back.

Shot 36-42 in the third day of a member guest a week ago. My brother and his friends have a saying - your handicap will find you :)

I just started playing with a new group of guys and I have managed to show them quite a few ways to shoot 80-82. I think it went 40-40, 37-43, 42-40, 41-39. I am still in the trial phase with these guys but they do see that I am consistent. I really thought the 42-40 round was going to be the death of me starting off hitting my tee shot 100 yards short of the fairway and starting double-double. The golf gods that manipulate handicaps came in and sprinkled a birdie or two in there and then kept the doubles away for the rest of the round. Of course there are the rounds of 38-37 that make you feel that you halfway have a clue. They keep you coming back.

"The golf gods that manipulate handicaps"    I've been playing this game for 50 years and if there is one thing that is true this is it. If you are honest with your handicap eventually it will catch up to you.

Usually i'm within 1-2 strokes on the back of what I was on the front, not sure I remember a round where I experienced something like this.

Just scored 51/41 in a comp. Mind you the front half of our course is a bit tougher as it's longer.

My last round was just the opposite as I shot 43-36 on a par 72 course. I didn't actually feel like I played better

coming in; just got a few good breaks and some putts found the hole. Golf is a silly game.

Almost identical to the OP, I shot 37/43 yesterday. I had a double on 15. Got aggressive with my tee shot because my swing was feeling good all day, and I cut the corner a little tight and hit a tree. My punch out was too strong, went through the fairway and into the trees on the other side. 

Then on 18, I tripled. A par 3, I put my first shot into the bunker. Had a downhill lie, and there was hardly any sand underneath. Hit that over the green and to the other side. Chipped on and three-jacked, with the third putt doing a full 360 around the lip of the hole.

38/43 today. As I seem to be flirting with lower handicap numbers, it seems as if I will hover around even for nine holes and then the other nine is either average or bad. It's tough to play well the whole time, especially if you aren't getting breaks.. Who would've thought golf is hard? I guess I'll keep practicing.

I did the exact opposite.  43-36.  And the front nine is the easy 9 where even par is the goal.  At the turn I figured I needed even to break 80.  7 pars, 1 birdie, 1 bogie.

Went 39 - 51 Saturday.  The randoms I was playing with thought I could play on the front.  I quickly got back to my comfort zone with triple, bogey, quad on 10, 11, 12.

recently I had a 52/36...it wasn't just one or two bad holes to make the 52 it was consistent double with a few bogey's and no 3 putts. stupid game. haha

45/37 yesterday, with a double on back nine when ball spun backward off green into water. And missed 3ft birdie putt.

I am a 20 index and a normal round for me at my club is a 93 to 98 (par 70). Last week I shot a 41-54 to shoot my average 95...  And that was with a 7 on 1 because I was messing around trying out a different club than I normally use on the first. Was on fire on the front nine, could have broken 40 if I played normal on 1, and could have broken 90 for my first time if I didn’t completely fall apart. Such is golf!
