Okay, here we go.

I agree getting fit makes obvious sense, but most get fit when their swing is not optimal. No one should be fitted unless they are in mid-season golf form, and swinging well (for them).Many people golfing shouldn’t be, and certainly not on my course. Good lord find a Par-3 course.I miss Johnny Miller. Please bring him back now.

How about this as an unpopular opinion - watching all of those YouTube videos is probably doing more damage than good.

Or this - getting a lesson won't necessarily help, because there are a lot of hack teachers out there.

dont 100% agree with that, however watching 100 different guys on YT teach swing mechanics can leave a watcher bewildered with their swing if a beginner is trying to learn little bits from each one though.

this thread is reading a little like the "how do you know you are a WRXer" thread, some good laughs here in this one also.

^^^ This and I'll even take it a step further. The milk after Honey Nut Cheerios is the best cereal milk in the game. Period.

 

But as for an actual golf opinion ... Not a single fancy, new iron shaft can compare with DynaGold. It was perfect back in the day and is still perfect now.

Here's my unpopular opinion:

Raw Irons/Wedges look like garbage. Clean/classic looking irons just look better. And the "they spin more" is nonsense. How does an oxidized layer of metal that can be ripped off provide "more" grip? It's malarky.

That's why it's unpopular. Anecdotally, I'm not finding a lot of people who say "I found this Youtube video and I dropped 3 strokes." I do get a lot of "check out this youtube video - makes a lot of sense" and the sharer doesn't get better.

A buddy and I got a visit from the ranger years ago when the cart girl ratted us out for our Bud heavy pounders (which they didn't have). Since then, we've instituted the Charity system where we buy a couple from the cart girl on the first visit and of course, any time after that when it appears that we might run out. Always put the newly bought cold ones in the bag cooler for later in the round.

I've even got my wife in on it. We'll see the cart girl coming and one of us will just say, "Charity?"
