I hope this is a Modus 115 to compliment the Modus 105 and 125 shafts. If it is a Modus 115, I will be all over them like a fat kid on a Snickers bar!

Exactly. There are two different shaft profiles with an x and stiff flex of each in the photos

Random questions:

Are there any rules on shafts that can make them non-conforming? Wasn’t/isn’t there rules associated with grips? If grips have guidelines, I would think shafts do?

The LSL proto was in that middle weight range and was lower spin and launch than Tour105. I have a set of LSL2 Xs that are stepless, but still rocking the ORA protos in my gamers. I haven't been as in touch with Nippon since I moved to Florida. Wouldn't mind trying the new stuff to give my impressions, still haven't tried the G.O.S.T. hybrid shaft yet. I know they don't want a ton of info out there while they are still testing stuff, and often these codes are just simple tweaks to existing profiles for a specific players request. But would be interested in the J and 3C14 if they are unique new profiles or how they are tweaks of existing profiles.

Any word on the 2F15 prototype? This one sounds like it would be in the 115gr range considering it’s based on the 1150gh tour.

The only shaft specific rule that comes to mind is that they have to be round and straight. Putter shafts have an exception that allows them to be bent.

2F15 was a higher launch shaft, in that weight range. Slightly counterbalanced, it the Tour105 is like the Tour125 but lighter, the 2F15 would be like the Tour130 but way lighter. Like a Tour110 if they wanted to call it that. (Now that Tour115 I believe is the LSL lower launch & spin proto.) 2F15 I'd say is higher launch and mid/high spin. IMO.

 

Oddly enough, the 2F15 was the first set of Modus Prototypes I ever used probably 12 years ago. Only made it maybe 3 rounds before I realized they didn't work for me, since I want lower spin and launch. But I hit a few memorable 3i shots with 2F15 on long par 3's that to this day stand out in my mind.

Interesting, considering Nippon said directly the 2f15 Proto is based off the 1150gh tour except with a stiffer butt and tip section while having a slightly softer mid section. Also they recently made reference to this Proto on their Instagram feed. Could this be a revamped 2f15?

Possible, but my real world experience with 2F15 would tell me it hits it higher than Tour105. Although if someone wanted to put Tour105/Tour115/LSL/2F15 in the same general bucket I would kind of agree with them.  Ala CTaper Lite, PXi, KBS Tour105, etc. Again though, each golfer reacts differntly, I know I generate spin loft at impact more than most and don't lead left wrist through impact so it may just be that that shaft and my swing together produced those results.

I did hit 1150GH Tours back in like 2006 in some Sonartec wedges. Kind of liked them in wedges, but weighting was not my favorite in mid/long irons. A slightly counter balanced snap/thump feel, more like a lighter Tour130 weight distribution but ligther and softer.
