Wrists/hands action at impact - am I thinking about this the right way?

Over the course of the last ~6 weeks I've been grinding away to eliminate several bad habits, everything from poor setup over the ball with the driver to a bit of reverse pivot creeping into my swing. As I've worked to fix those problems (it's been a positive journey yielding better results) a positive by-product is around how my wrists/hands work in the swing, specifically immediately before, thru and after impact. By getting my body into a better position I've found that my ball striking is more crisp and I'm no longer "flippy" with the hands. For some reason I've become way more aware of the flippy feel with my hands - I can now tell on the poor swings when the hands and wrists are getting too active thru impact.

So here's my observation which I'd love to get input on. When I purposefully come through impact with what I would describe as "calm" wrists/hands, I see excellent results (slight forward shaft lean, good AoA on the ball - up on the driver, down on the scoring irons). Is this something I should continue to engrain in the swing? It feels great and when I step back and think about my swing, it simplifies how I make impact and makes sense.

Without seeing your swing, and assuming you're accurate and have reasonable distances, sounds like you are well on your way to finding the magic elixir! Keep it up!

are active hands through impact really a bad thing. really depends on your swing and your tendencies. hard to tell without video.

The term "calm" is very subjective here. Calm compared to what? If you used to have super active flippy hands trying to square the club face that way then a "calm" feeling could be very helpful if you fixed the part of your swing that was necessitating the flip to square the face.

In a typical good swing you're not really trying to do anything special with your hands. They react as part of the overall dynamic athletic movement that is the golf swing. The hands do play a major part, calling it a "calm" feeling is just too subjective.
