The thing is - he was always a very skilled golfer and would probably have won a bunch anyway with his improved putting

10 pounds of muscle and 30 pounds of fat in the not so long run will play havoc with joints

Not sure if you are familiar with TXG on YouTube but their most recent video confirms this. One of their guys ditched his new Maverick that he's been hitting 350yds all spring/summer on GCQuad in favor of his old ping after the first 3 holes on the golf course. Hit nothing but low spin hooks that were unplayable with the Maverick.

That leads to my unpopular opinion:

GCQuad is trash. Especially for high speed driver testing. The results of the TXG guy were completely different indoor on GCQuad vs actual golf outside on the course. There are no excuses possible for there to be that much difference in ball flight and distance except for the fact that GCQuad is simply not accurate on high speed, low spin shots.

Agreed. Anyone who talks about their "brand" and blames someone else for influencing what their brand is has to be a monumental d-bag. I'm just happy the rules official called him on his BS. If I was Fowler I wouldn't have waited 13 minutes ot hit my next shot. I would've just left Bryson behind to deal with his phantom fire ants.

I'd love to see the tour tee off Bryson, Jordan Spieth and Kevin Na in front of Brandt Snedecker, Dustin Johnson and Bill Haas. Snedecker, Haas and Johnson would be asking to play through by the 4th hole lol

He was fit into the Mavrik regular, and then after custom ordering it from Callaway and having it built exactly to his specs after 3 or 4 fitting sessions, he switched into the Sub Zero for some reason after saying he hated it. I have no idea why he did that. It was the Sub Zero he was hitting duck hooks with on the course. But it is telling that he went back to the Ping and not the regular Mavrik.

How does one youtube video confirm this? He wasn’t even hitting the same driver he was fitted for. It’s not like the Ping driver had him hitting more fairways. If anything, it shows how valuable outdoor fittings are.

It doesn't confirm anything. I was just pointing out that it wasn't the regular Mavrik he was hitting hooks with. As you point out it was the Sub Zero which he wasn't even fit into. I was just pointing out that I thought it was weird he switched into that. Especially after he said he hated anything sub zero

Unpopular opinion:

Until you have an official handicap, you should only be allowed to play the most forward (adult/red) tees.

Until you drop below a 15, you should never play the "blue" tees.

Until you drop below a 5, you should never play "champs" tees.

Sex/gender has zero to do with tee blocks. Play to your capability.

If you are going to play the tips, especially as a 4 some, everyone in the group should consistently hit their ball past the forward tees.

The overwhelming majority of golfers get zero added benefit from range finders over guesstimating yardage from vicinity of 100/150/200 markers.

I’ve always been a Titleist guy, but the belief that one should work back from the green in selecting a ball is just wrong. Most are much more likely to hit a green if they are in the fairway and it’s much easier to spin a surlyn ball from the short grass than a urethane ball from the trees.

I love TXG, support them and watch their videos. But you should take it with a grain of salt.
