Need advice on fairway shaft weight

My driver shaft is 73 grams but play at 45.75" and my hybrid shaft is 87 grams but play at 40.5". What weight shaft would you recommend for a 3 wood as it will play around 43". It sucks as I play between a S and X depending on the shaft. My driver is stiff (3.3 torque) yet hybrid is X flex (3.2 torque). Thanks!

I'd go like 77-83 ish grams on the 3 wood. I think as long as the weight is progression heavier as you get shorter clubs, you're good

To understand shaft weight, we must re-calc the numbers to grams pr inch.

Woods often starts as 46" uncut, Hybrids as 42" uncut, so even if both was "90 grams", the hybrid still has a higher weight.

We are all different, but between woods, we "should" have 2.33 to 5 grams pr inch. 2.33 grams uncut shaft wgt progression as we goes shorter gives a shaft weight about the same as "constant weight", while 3-5 grams pr inch becomes Ascending weight.

Your driver is to the longer end, but 2.75" shorter x 2.33 grams = minimum 6.4 grams higher start weight, and as 5 grams pr inch we get to 13.75, so anything between 7 to 14 grams up in uncut shaft weight will do, all depending on balance point and your feel preference for weight.

Flex letters CANT be used for compare, so its no such thing as "between S and X" unless we talk one specific model and weight. Flex labels cant be used for compare of different models since they are not a reference to neither CPM or Deflection, they only tell where that shaft belongs in its own model and weight series.'

As examples, True Temper XP 95 S is weaker than XP 115 R, and Modus 130 R is stronger than DG X100, so if model OR weight is different, this flex labels is useless for compare. We can only use them to go stronger or weaker within the same model AND weight.
