2020 The Tribute and Olde American Membership offerings

I am looking into joining a golf club in the Plano/Frisco/Colony area, I am very interested in what really goes on at this club, relative to tee times, crowds, etc. Can a Member expect to go out on a Wednesday afternoon and get on as a single? Saturday afternoon? Is it best to consider this club as a private club that allows the public to play, or Public courses with membership amenities?

The idea of two quality courses at your "beckon call" is pretty cool, when considering joining a club. What say ye?

Thx, cval. The post you referred is informative, but doesn't address some of my questions. I would love to speak with a current member, but just haven't pursued that yet.

I am right but both courses as well. Believe OA is members only before 12 and TT is guest play all day. TT has more play than OA just b/c of cost and with so many other courses in the area some do not want to pay the higher green fees. Both are great courses but lack the country club feel for sure. I think they even changed the OA clubhouse into a grill but it is not open yet. At least what the sign says when i go for a run on the trail by the old clubhouse.

I'll be joining as well as soon as my membership at another club is sold. On a wait list now.

OA is by far the best deal in the area. Only downside is 15 mins to a highway.

Speaking as someone who was away from Golf for 20+ years, and recently woke up to discover Titleists were $45/Dozen, it appears to be difficult to have the "country club" experience in the Frisco/surrounding area without spending a good deal of $$$. Good/Great practice facilities are a must for me, but I'm not interested in Tennis or a Pool. These factors have attracted me to OA/Tribute. I've looked into several other Frisco area courses and their membership programs, and while I think they are reasonable, the courses are certainly what I would consider "public" courses. What other clubs around the area are comparable to OA/Tribute, relative to quality of course vs. Initiation and Dues? I know of Gentle Creek, but not sure of current costs.

dfwgolf123, thank you for the suggestion. I am encouraged that you are going to join. Is there a wait list to join OA/Tribute? Re: your neighbor, I'm putting together a list of questions, which continually grows. Not sure how to PM my contact, but i'm looking for instructions :-)

No wait list at OA. The only wait lists are going to be for clubs with six figure initiations.

In the OA price range, there is simply nothing else even close in terms of value and quality. I don't think you could get Prestonwood for that price and even if you could they have a million members and not as good of course. As a ClubCorp member now, I'd tell you to avoid them at all costs.

Lakes at Castle Hills is nice but more around the $35k/$900 price point. Craig Ranch was nice but ClubCorp bought them. They are also in that $35k/$1000 price point. Gentle Creek is farther than I would go so have not looked at them but supposed to be reasonably priced I have heard.

In the March issue of Avid Golfer earlier this year, it shows Gentle Creek to be $9K/$520.

Yes but the article also states - *Initiation fees and monthly dues are estimated.  

There were some gross misstatements in that article which I emailed the editor about long ago and never even got a reply. I guess they are okay knowingly making false claims.

I believe that if you look real close, there is an asterik besides the names of several courses indicating which courses are estimated on their list.

Now, that being said, I have no doubt that there are numerous inaccuracies. In fact, the costs for my home course are wrong. It's pretty obvious that you have to consider all the costs they show as a "ballpark" estimate. And, like you, I have emailed the editors before and never got a reply as well.
