PXG Forged Blade

I don't have too much knowledge yet but its coming down the pipeline that PXG will be releasing a forged blade that will fall in the price category of the GEN 3 irons. I know they have the STs that are milled but a cheaper blade option opens up another (Small I know) chunk of the market. Has anyone else heard anything?

Kinda! It will be a blade like the ST but it will be forged and not milled like the ST.

That just seems hard to fathom. While the T’s aren’t a true muscle back, they are similar in size to other “traditional” blades. For example, the Gen 3 T has a thinner top line and less offset than than the MP-20’s.

This is just what I'm hearing coming from some of the reps. I play the Gen 3 T's right now and really enjoy them. I do not disagree with your statement. I could see them phasing out the ST's just due to the insane cost but then again it is PXG and some people will want that option.

In true PXG style, the forged blades will go for $895/club because they will be blades that include the Impact Reactor material. ?

Are the STs not forged ? They can be both forged and milled is what I’m saying. Forge the blank. Then cnc finish it. I’m pretty sure it and the wedges are. But I could be wrong. I’m not a parsons expert.

@bladehunter, as his name suggests, is correct about the ST blades. They are forged first and then milled to completion. However, instead of being quintuple forged like the 0311’s, the ST’s are only triple forged.

Very well put. I think the OP is confusing "hand finished" with the term forged. After the club is forged x times, you can finish it in a variety of ways like by hand or milling.

I thought PXG 0311T wedges and ST blades are milled from solid 11lb blocks of steel

Right. But that billet is a forged blank billet. Not cast. Basically it’s hammered while hot to the blank billet shape. Not poured into a square mold. Or more accurately it’s a forged bar stock around 20-30 ft long THats clipped into 11lb billets for machining.

I hope this is true. They need lower bounce models for us sweeper/sliders. Just too much bounce on the short irons for my taste.

I honesty thought the ST was a blade. Is it not ? I guess I mean is it hollow? Or do you jsut mean less bounce ? Keep in mind I haven’t held one in person.

The ST is a blade and is solid. I don’t really know where a new blade fits in, because there isn’t really any room between the Gen 3 T’s and the ST, unless the new blade replaces the ST. Because, as you mentioned before, the ST is a forged blade.

Unless we see them adding tech of some kind to a blade model. The ST is a straight solid piece, would be interesting to see a blade that competes marketing wise w/ weighting of Blueprint or the "layers of feel" of MP-20.

Just received an email that Hero’s pricing on Gen 3 irons, ST blades, and milled wedges have all gone down. This would appear to be more evidence that PXG is going to be releasing some new clubs.

Same. I love the ST's, but I can't justify spending $495/club (new Hero's pricing); One club or 330 rounds of match grade ammo is a no-brainer (ammo all day).

But, if they can put out a solid, one-piece, forged blade for $350, I'll definitely try them out. I found the Gen 3's to have too much pop, though they felt amazing.

I was not confusing hand finishing with forging... I was trying to get the point across that they were not milled and would fall more inline with the Gen 3 irons being forged 5X vs milled like the ST
