How To Change The Stamp On The Sole?

One of my mixed sets has two 3-iron clubs. One is a standard 3 iron and the other is a jacked-up 3 iron which has specs of the old 2 iron. To avoid the possibility of pulling the wrong club out of the bag, I used a black Sharpie marker and wrote in a 2 in place of the 3 stamp. However, after a few strikes and cleanings with that club the ink wears out and I have to draw in the 2 again. Is there a way to erase the 3 and mark it with a 2? How would you professional clubmakers do it, if you can overlook the absurdity of this objective?

You would have to weld it in which is a little rediculous or sand away the number which would loose a lot of weight. Easier method would be to find an etcher and engrave a 2 onto the club, fill that in with paint, and remove the paint from the 3.

I would try to stamp a line above or below the 3 on the strong one to identify it.

Actually you don't even need a full line. Just a dot would do. If you don't have a stamp you could just use a hammer and nail to put one there.

just clean out the paint on the 3 on the bottom of the club and repaint it a different color.

I would remove the paintfill of the '3' then stamp a '2' and fill that.

Just stamp a little + sign beside the 3 on the strong one.

Which type of paint do I buy? I once tried a paint job for an old sand wedge, but after just a couple bunker shots the paint wore out, so I don't think I bought the right type of paint. The paint I bought was from a crafts store, so apparently I must look elsewhere. Can anyone provide a link where I can buy the proper paint?

Nail polish or Testors. Must be oil based, clean up with a strip solution or acetone.

A friend of mine hit a perfect 6 iron shot into a par 3 a few years ago.

only thing was, he meant to hit his 9 iron.

He spray painted the bottom of his 9 iron green so that didn’t happen again.

I like the paint idea.

If your other clubs are black, use a bright red or orange.

Sort of marking a HOT club.

I have used the Testors model car paint mentioned above.

Clean it real good with some type of solvent, and use a toothpick to drip the paint down in the stamp.

If you have trouble with dying, put it in the sunlight, or use a haridrayer for a little bit.

Maybe drill a dimple on the bottom of one of them. Then you'd have something to paint fill.
