I heard a new release is coming. Something like the Spider mini with forward tungsten weighting. Color way is very similar to new Ping Heppler putters. Haven’t seen pics nor heard of a name..

Just sold my current putter and going back to my OG spider putter. For those who game with recent spider putters, are those new spiders significantly better?

I like my Spider Tour Black. I got it from the vault a while back before there was a spider tour with toe hang available at retail and right after DJ started using it. I have tried the X but sold it and went back to the black. Probably just been using it so long it's tough to adjust to something with slightly different weighting and feel. Others have gone to the X and never looked back. I guess like everything, it's personal so you just have to test them to see what you like best and what helps you make more putts.

It doesn’t get a lot of hype because one of the Tour players use it, but keep the Spider S in mind.  I tried it out and I was really surprised at how stable it is and how well it rolls the ball.  I think I remember from somewhere that it has a higher MOI than Spider Tour or Spider X, but I could be wrong about that.

PGATSS by me has some of the new FCGs on the rack now. Rolled the plumber's neck and the face balanced version for a while.

Excellent results but needs to have more reps.

The face feels MUCH firmer (apparently it's copper) than the Spider X insert, ball rolls very true. Balance is excellent.

I, roughly 2-3 times out of 5, have the putter "wave" from very little to quite a bit on the backstroke. With the plumber's neck model I was able to bring straight back and thru time after time. Didn't use the face balanced much as I was ready to leave the store when I found them.

I'll be looking to give it more of a workout in the coming days.

Spent 30 Minutes with all 3 FCG models and had the same results as you. The face is hotter, but does feel nice. I just found the ball

rolled out more than I am used to with my Spider X.

The alignment does what it is supposed to, that for sure.

I’ve been playing the FCG for a couple weeks as I got it early and I’m very pleased with it.  Wasn’t a fan of the look in pics but in hand it’s a lot better.  I have a 12g weight in mine with a stability tour shaft and it’s the best putter I’ve putted with.  Scotty special select Newport, spider x and my Bettinardi tour blade and sitting on the sideline.  Give it a try you’ll thank me later.

Maybe there's nothing to leak about ?

I see more and more of them on the shelves at my local PGATSS and prices stay firm at $349.

Seems like TaylorMade is releasing/testing newer products out on the European Tour, LPGA, Ladies European Tour. So I'd watch that for first glimpse.

Where did you get the 12g weight for the FCG putter? I'm probably blind and couldn't recognize it on TM's website...

Any other info you can share?

He didn't give me much, I just asked him point blank "If you were buying a spider x would you buy one now or wait for the next line?" He said to wait because the next line would drop in March/April. He was reserved about any more details

That’s pretty exciting. The spider lineup is by far the flagship and seems like other putter are afterthoughts but I am fine with that because the spiders are so good

To me the single biggest improvement they could have is better paint and/or a metallic finish option.  The Spider X was better than the Spider Tour, but still wasn't immune to random chips.  Not sure why they continue to utilize a powder coated finish as opposed to a nice metal polish or black matte finish (a la Odyssey or Ping).

they do have the " my spider x custom " with a ton of paint choice options. but ya i find the number one complaint on this forum and others is that the paint chips or degrades even when guys baby it like a scotty and use all their covers ect... seems weird for a pricey putter .

also im in the same boat.. wanting the spider x but waiting or the update..
