slump

any suggestions?

this golf season has been a total waste for me. i thought i'd play a lot better, last year i averaged 75 and practiced all off season, this season i'm lucky to break 80. What do you guys do when you're in a slump?

work at slowing down and being patient. I also try and find my safest shots. Don't go for anything just play safe and get my confidence back. Sometimes scoring and hitting the ball well are two different things. Put more emphasis on my short game.......... good luck

make sure you take things slow, dont expect to get your swing back in two days. Give it a week or two, and work hard, which im sure you are.

Play a few more rounds, and take your stats: fairways hit, greens, putts, etc. After 5-10 rounds analyze your numbers and see what is giving you trouble. When I am having problems with my game that I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, I will abide by this method and it will normally give you a few things to work on. Whether it be you aren't hitting greens (trace that back...are you missing greens because you are not in the fairway), are you missing putts, just keep track, and then work on the weak parts of your game. You obviously know what it's like to play well because as you said you did all of last season, just take it easy, and try and pinpoint one area at a time to work on (so your not overloading your head with thoughts...).

 

Give it a try, and hopefully you will come out of it soon. It happens to the best of us, and although it is frustrating, you always learn something after you have come out of it!

for me the hardest thing to remember is that this game really is fun, so don't forget that when you're out on the course. It'll take more stress off you and let you relax.

Practice dont play go to the range. Itll be frustating but youll come through eventually.

I am not sure that is the best advise for everyone...for me I feel as though it is hard to get your confidence back on the range....you get your confidence back by posting some good numbers. Although if you have a major swing problem that should be addressed at the range but if you are just lacking some confidence go straight to the first tee!
