Any feedback on theses?
Has anyone tried or have any feedback on the new Project X graphite shafts, the Aldila RIP, or the UST Mamiya ATTAS? I have tried to find info and FINALLY, UST updated its website. I was hoping people have tried these shafts and could give a better feedback.

I just tested the project X 7a3 in an 8* Nickent 4dx and all I can say is.....WOW! Better distance and dispersion than the RIP 70x. The UST Attas is a different animal than the other 2 you are comparing. Much higher launch and WAY softer in the tip section. Great if you want a higher launch with low/mid spin but not my cup of tea. Of the three I LOVE the Project X!!! Simply wonderful for someone who needs mid launch and super low spin. Cheers, SBM

Project X is a little harsh for me. They didn't really lower the launch angle all that much for me to fall in love with it, spin numbers were better. The tip felt very stiff and mishits really stung the hands. The ball did not want to come back either. If you hit it off the toe to the right, it stayed there. Other shafts, like my old VooDoo would work their way back into play at least.

The Aldila RIP on the other hand is perfect for me. Lowers my average ballflight 3 or 4 degrees over the VooDoo I was playing and spin numbers are much lower. I get a very nice mid-trajectory straight ball. There is very little sidespin. I don't get that annoying little tail draw I got with the VooDoo. I missed a lot of shots because my ball that was striaght and down the middle would start to tail to the left and bounce left. The 60X I have is a hair stiffer than I'd like at .5" tipping. When they become increasingly available, I may switch to an untipped version. I used to pop the voodoo about 290-295 average with a few in the 320's but was probably hitting 50% fairways but more importantly, probably 80% in play. The RIP averages 280-290, better shots right around 300-305, but I am hitting closer to 70% of fairways and 95% playable. I still have the occasional quick pull hook but way less than with the VooDoo, now it's once every other round as opposed to once a round like before. The RIP is good!

For me it comes down to the RIP 80 and Project X. It appears both are lower to mid launch with the project X being slightly lower spin? is this correct?

Have you had the opportunity to try the ATTAS?

I have the X8A4 prototype and an ATTAS 8X both with a mid 280's frequency. If you are looking for low launch and low spin, I believe the Project X is the way to go. The ATTAS 8 series is also very low spin with more of a medium trajectory. I would say that the ATTAS is very similar to the Mamiya AXIV X line but with a little lower spin.

Since Project X is a PING Wrx offering and you're in Arizona, you should get a couple of demos and go on trackman...assuming you're affiliated with PING.

I am on the Ping Staff and trying to work with my rep and have my numbers on trackman if he has the time. Otherwise I will just reshaft it myself.

It depends on what Attas you get your hands on, the tour proto's had various profiles one of which is very low spin mid launch. The retail profiles are more tame with mid/high launch and lower spin. The Attas is a fantastic shaft if you can find the correct one...BB

Thanks for the feedback....I'm thinking about putting one into a Ping G15 and hoping that it will produce some "high launching knuckle balls."
