J33r 420

quick question
Might get a deal on one. But question is how unforgiving is this driver? I consider myself an ok ball striker. I have an R9 and FT-IQ, so this doesn't necessarily mean it will be my gamer. I did a search but most of the posts were a year or two old. I need something to help slow down my spin. Thanks for the input

I own a total of 5 of the Bridgestone J33, 2 of the 420cc models, and 3 of the 460cc. If you dont hit at least part of the sweetspot about 90% of the time, then u wont like this one. Toe and heel hits on this driver are punished. If you drive on an average of 250, and mishit it a lot. Then you are going to be in the 200 yard average at best.

But if u can hit the center of the driver quite often, then you will love this driver. It is not forgiving, either u make a good strike or you suffer.

I gamed one for about about 2 seasons...I would still be playing it if I didn't get my hands on a Tour Issue Ping Rapture V2. The J33R is not the most forgiving but not the toughest club to hit either. I found that when I missed the ball on the heel of the club I would only lose 10 yards and have a slight fade ball flight; however when I missed it on the toe I lost almost 25-35 yards with an ugly low draw/hook ball flight. If you can get a deal on one they are well worth investment...in my opinion it is still one of the lower spinning heads out there. Good Luck and Happy Holidays.

Thanks and keep them coming. If/when I miss its towards the heel. As stated, with my other drivers this could be something I could grow into. I read your posts justaman (excellent btw) and they were the ones I referred to. Was just curious if the test of time held true.

I actually like the idea of being punished. When I miss, its usually (IMO) a tempo/rhythm thing. Knowing that my hands are about to get punished for getting quick kinda appeals to me.

Keep the opinions coming.

I have gamed the j33 420 and 460. I found the 420 to certainly be more forgiving than the 460 and overall a fairly forgiving head. they can be had for cheap and with a right shaft a very good driver.

I've had a hit w. this driver. My opinion is that it is only unforgiving if you are playing it w. a 45" or longer shaft.,,,but i learned to play w. persimmon. It's not going to be lower spinning than the 460 headsize of the j33r or the Adams 9015d. The 420 didnt slow down the spin nearly as much...the face isnt as deep. both the adams 9015d and j33r 460 can be had on the cheap.

well $60 in great condition (from the pics) with the green NV-65 9.5*. Ill have to cut that shaft down and let you know how the hands feel :)

Ironic though, I won an auction for a set of rocket tour skinnies and the seller threw in a Lime green/black driver cover for free. Wondered what I would do with it, but now I know.

Thanks again for your inputs
