will mizuno give me a discount

so i have pretty much settled on mp-60s. Now I just need to find out where i can get them the cheapest. I will be playing d3 college golf this coming fall and spring here in illinois, and i asked my golf coach if he could help me out. All he can do is get deals on titleist and cobra clubs, so he sent me the price sheets for those(some incredible prices!!!!), but I want mp 60s. I thought i read somewhere on here that some on just e-mailed mizuno and said he played college golf and they gave him a discount. is that true? The only other thing my golf coach said he could do would be to give me the number of one of hte kids on the team that works for a "golf discount" store and that maybe he could get me a discount. Any one know what kind of price breaks they get?

you could get some new titleist gear, and sell that to make money for the MP-60's.....might be a little dirty work but im just giving ideas.

maxwel, what school are you going to next year?

 

I would try contacting Mizuno and seeing what it would take for your school to get into their collegiate program, and do all the legwork for your coach. Some companies (such as Nickent and Sonartec) are very easy to get the collegiate discount from, it basically requires your coach to call a phone number placing the order for you, and to confirm that you actually play for the team. I know that Mizuno is very good to the college teams, so I wouldn't imagine getting added to the program would be that difficult.

Actually, Kevin's idea is a really, really bad one. Often times club companies keep track of what you ordered, and what the serial numbers are (TMaG does this on the newer drivers) and if a club ends up for a reshaft from someone other than the purchaser, with the serial number, they will be mighty angry. Selling clubs for profit is not what the college program discounts were designed for and the reps remember when you double cross them. You really don't want to wear out your welcome mat with a company because you never know when you'll actually wanna play something by them. I would NOT reccomend buying another company, selling for profit, and buying anoter club. Well down the road if you sell the club no big deal thats another story, but if that club ends up back with them in a month for a reshaft from someone random they're gonna know what was up.

ya I definately was not going to do that. Thats a bad thing. So how should I go about calling mizuno? I'm just going to be a freshman next year and not an amazing golfer at that, so i don't want to call and hassel the coach if this is going to be a lot of work. What does it mean to be in mizuno's collegiate program? Are there other stipulations you have to do for mizuno, or does that mean they send you a price sheet?

Just ask them for the price sheet of the collegiate discount form and what it would take for your school to get on the list of colleges
