Here is a link to a fantastic website displaying many of the Scotty Cameron putters he made especially for Nick Faldo.

That would be my website, no longer updated, and some stuff removed, but still existing somewhere in cyberspace, I think.

Great stuff!

Hey guys,

I have quite an interesting story about faldo and how anal he was about his equipment. A friend of mine used to work for Brunswick on the tour vans back in the 80's and 90's, they did all the reshafting for the tour players no matter what club manufacturer they played. One day Faldo turns up with 3 boxes of taylormade TPA putter heads (he had just found out the putter was going out of production so he drove to the factory himself and raided the factory!). Anyway he insisted that they all the heads were weighed, then shafted and cut to his prefered length, all the shafts had to be frequency matched (yes he had his putter shafts frequency matched!!!!) My buddy spent 4 days going through all the testing of these TPA's and eventually they came up with 3 that were exactly the same, the exact same head weight, swing weight, shaft frequency, grip thickness etc. So after all this he took them away, and then a day later he began the tournament with a bloddy ping anser!!!!!

A funny story that gives many of my friends a good chuckle, i think he was a blame it on the club type of guy, tongue.gif but still a legendary performer!!

Cheers

I thought he used an S400 in his wedges? I also remember another brand of shoe that he was associated with.... to be precise I mean that I remember there was another brand... but I cannot remember what it was. This will bug me now. Began with an M ... perhaps... Thanks for that. I am now going to spend the entire evening trying to remember.

Taylormade M1 440 - Tensei CK Pro Orange TX
Adams VST Hybrid (19) - GD AD-DI X
Tour Edge Exotics CB4 (4 wood) - GD AD-DI X
Mizuno JPX 919 Tour (5-PW) KBS S-Taper S
Mizuno JPX 919 Forged (4) KBS S-Taper S
Taylormade Milled Grind (52 & 58, SB) - Nippon Modus 130 S
Taylormade Spider Tour (red) / Scotty Cameron Button Back Newport
Titleist Pro V1
Feeling sad and neglected: Taylormade P750 (4-PW) / Srixon 765 (4-PW) - Nippon Modus 3 130 S

I believe that he used S400's in his wedges at the tail end of his career post Mizuno.

Not sure about those shoes though !? Not Florsheim or Bally !?

A couple of weeks ago I took the liberty of sending a message to Sir Nick Faldo's office in the UK asking for some confirmation on the irons that he actually used to win his six majors. I stated the irons as listed earlier in this thread and had a reply yesterday from his Executive Assistant in the United States saying that he "had a chuckle while reading my note" and "was happy to see that someone was paying attention".

He interestingly confirmed that he actually used the same irons to win the 1987 British Open at Muirfield and the 1989 US Masters. These were in fact a Mizuno TP-P model (I guess possibly standing for TP-Prototype !?) and from historical photo's that we have seen look very similar to the European production released Mizuno TP-9 model.

He also confirmed that he used the same irons to win the 1990 US Masters and the 1990 British Open at St Andrews being the correctly identified blank Mizuno TN-87's.

Finally, he confirmed that he used Mizuno TP-19's for his 1992 British Open victory at Muirfield and the 1996 US Masters.

I have thanked him for his response and have also mentioned that if he fancies having "another chuckle" then he should take some time to read these two threads dedicated to him on this forum.......................so you never know !?!
