Refinishing golf clubs

need a iron set refinished

so ive decided to get my old set of titleist 735.cm's refinished for a number of reasons

1) the chrome finish have a few nicks and dings about them.
2) some light rust is forming.
3) i have a little nick in my 7 iron on the back of the hossel and refinishing might cover it up.
4) im thinking even going for a different finish.

Only problem is i live in australia and i dont think there is a way to do it around here so my options could be.

1) send to a wrx member and get them to send off to a refinisher and then ship back to me of course all costs would be taken care of.

2) joe kwok could be a possibility??? does he do this type of work??

There are actually alot of people in the US who can do it. I have been looking at having some wedges refinished myself. If you google "golf club refinish" there are quite a few of them. A lot of people offer a black chrome which looks pretty good, mirror/high polish chrome, or a satin chrome, also Black Ox but from what I read wears very quickly, I could be wrong though. There is a member here who has done a couple sets in black that look just unbelievable! I will see if I can find his screenname for you...

EDIT Damn it I erased his PM out of my mail box. Someone else might know who he is... he has been refinishing some Mizuno irons and then sells them for great prices through the BST and they look great after he work on them!!

It looks like your desire to have your irons refinished is based solely on the aesthetics of each club.
I'd advise against it for two reasons:
1. They are forged clubs. It happens. Unless you are planning to mothball your irons to the garage or display them on rack in your study, it would be futile to refinish a slightly worn set that are simply going to get more of the same blemishes eventually if played on a regular basis. I can't think of one forged set that doesn't show some form of rust, dings and other minor marks that have been used for their intended purpose - ie hitting a golf ball.
2. The cost of refinishing. Based on the current used price of a set of 735CM's, it would be simply cheaper to buy a replacement set. A mint used set can be had for around £250. Why bother refinishing at the same or more cost? If you don't like the inevitable rusting, get the stainless version. Don't get me wrong, the 735 CM's are an excellent set of clubs, but they're not exactly rare and are not worth the expense of a makeover when a replacement set can be bought for similar or less money.

I don't believe in refinishing a forged Chrome iron, especially here in the US due to:

1. Weight lost can't be controlled. Depends on the existing condition and how the process are. In most cases that i saw is around 5-6gr or more
2. Not cost effective for certain age of club, You can still find a good condition from the internet and cost of re chroming might get you a real good condition used one.
3. Chrome durability is not gonna be the same. None that I know of in the US using the same quality chrome job.
4. Groves may not be as consistent anymore from one to another depending how much sanding was done base on existing condition.
