Best Epoxy ?

which is all around better?

Ive recently started clubmaking ive mastered how to put grips on and how to save them i just learned how to extend shafts and cut them down. I need to know what is the best all - around epoxy, on golfsmith they have something called " Tour Van" epoxy is that the actual same formula they use in the tour vans for the pros? I know i will not be buying that though becuase on the description it says it contains materials which in Californa have been prooven to cause cancer. Also I heard of Royal Onyx is that any good thanks guys. :vava:

The State of California seems to claim that everything causes cancer or birth defects except the use of recreational drugs and other amoral behavior! :blink:

Royal Onyx is just no good. :cheesy: Get any 24 hour cure shafting epoxy. Don't eat it, don't stick it up your nose, don't bathe in the stuff, wash your hands and keep it off your clothing, the dining room table and the carpet! Look both ways when crossing the street, don't drink and drive, follow the directions when using tools and enjoy building clubs!

Royal Onyx Sucks AZZ. That is the worst stuff. Good concept but it fails all the time.

 

Or maybe its my clubmaking skills.

Actually all their epoxy has that warning. I use both the tour van and the 24 hour stuff. The tour van is excellent for one or two clubs, especially when you're jones'n to hit it in less than an hour :vava:.

I usually use this Golfsmith epoxy that I often can play with this club in about 18 hours or so. Never had this epoxy fail on me and easier to break the bond with heating gun. I would stay away from quickie tour van epoxy, the bond is more likely to fail unless you need to play with this club in few hours. Agreed with others about Black Onyx, suxs big time.

Sorry; it still causes cancer to or makes California's clubmakers sterile if you believe those dopeheads that forced them to put those warnings on the labels.

BTW, Royal Onyx or tour van glue is just ok for testing shafts, but after you know what shaft you like to put it in...I like this http://www.golfworks.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_GREX4.

 

It dried up like a hard rubber to cushion up the corner of the shaft at the top of the hosel where it's coned/beveled.

No one uses Con-Ap?  That's what all the club makers/repairmen I know use.  It's not glamorous, but it works very well.  And what about the Brompton?  Joe K.?

Gawt! I hate it when i got that type. Smell the hell out of my shop. Makes me dizzy after that! :drinks:

Honestly, I haven't had any epoxies smell good.lol :drinks: the 810 didn't seem that bad to me. I really like it for set up time and bonding strength. If I have over night most any of the two part 24 hour epoxies seem to work great. My smeller isnt that good anymore. It could be all that automotive basecoat reducer I huffed when I was a kid. :drinks: :D Maybe we should start a new strawberry smelling tour epoxy. Scratch and sniff. Later, G

when the club head goes flying off at least it will smell like strawberries. If you smell strawberries beware of a flying clubhead. it might be "head"ed in your direction
