Top D1 programs get a lot of love in the sports world...but are the Top D2, D3, and NAIA programs over the last few years?

Barry, Rollins and Florida Southern are probably one of the best DII schools and Methodist and Guilford are some of the best DIII schools and SCAD and Johnson & Wales are solid NAIA schools

Chico State. I have a friend there. I bet they could beat 90% of D1 teams.

A couple teams up north here that are pretty solid are Minnesota State Mankato and St. Cloud at the D2 level, also Indian Hills CC is a very solid program

Ya to bad their the two biggest party schools in minnesota, and not to mention their a joke academically. but if you can get by that pretty solid program golf wise.

I played at Iowa Lakes Community College, where Coach Dan Soper has built a great golf program. Several student athletes have moved on to D1,D2,D3 and NAIA schools as well as made multiple appearances at two year schools national championships. Coach Soper is actually going to step down at the end of this season to allow his youngest son take over the program, he's a great guy. ILCC and the Soper's are outstanding!

go Lakers!!!

+1 For Barry my gf went there and played there also, also pretty tough academically(sp?). She really enjoyed her time there. Also Methodist is excellent from what I hear.

There are plenty of good schools everywhere in D-III. You have the schools in the Northeast like Middlebury, Williams, NYU, etc... There are good schools out west, like Pomona. In the South, you have Emory and Washington & Lee, not to mention schools like Sewanee and Rhodes. There are tons. Schools are going to be more prestigious in D-III vs D-II by a pretty long shot.

In regards to party schools, pretty every single state school is a huge party school. Doesn't mean a thing with regards to the academics. If you are going to school and looking to only play golf, and not have a good time, you are going to end up being pretty disappointed.

Maybe I missed it, but I'm surprised I haven't seen Methodist up here. They've got one of the best D3 programs around, I think they're ranked #1 right now. Same with Huntingdon and Oglethorpe. Illinois Wesleyan is always really strong too.

As far as schools that are great academically that aren't D1. Schools like Williams,Amherst,Middlebury,Tufts, etc. aren't the best, but this has more to do with weather than with the academic standards. There are a few acadmically prestigious schools that are solid though. I know Emory usually has a decent program as does Skidmore. Washington and Lee isn't terrible, neither is Trinity College. In general though the top northeastern academic schools don't have great programs.
