Does anyone go to the course "all logo'd up"?

Recommended Posts

And isn't getting paid for it...
A couple of rounds ago, I got home from the course and looked in the mirror. Unbeknownst to me at the time, I had dressed myself like a complete tour pro and didn't like it. TM hat, Adidas shirt and pants, Adidas shoes. I do play mostly TM stuff, but I looked like a complete ****** (especially considering how I played). What do you all think of someone that looks like that at the course or, if you are that person, what's your reasoning?

What are the other options? No Name clothing, shoes, bag etc. I have all titleist and cobra, footjoy shoes, Footjoy raingear. Doesn't bother me, not sure what else your supposed to do, maybe rip the logos off everything? :russian_roulette:

I suggest not to worry about it and just play.

It's seems to be pretty common, but there's not a lot of option. I don't like golf branded hats though. Fashion wise I think they look like crap. It seems like it's a competition on who can place more logo's on a hat. I doesn't bother me if people where them or if they're all branded up. It's mainly just the hat and shirt. Pants/shorts you can't really tell what brand they are.

Personally I have to wear dry fit shirts. I find regular cotton shirt too uncomfortable, especially as it gets hotter. It's pretty hard to find dry fit shirts that aren't branded. I have two visors: one adidas that only has a small logo on the front and no adidas name written anywhere, and a freshjive visor. I guess I would say that I'm branded, but not noticeably.

It's the same for any sport though. You tend to wear branded clothing that is somehow affiliated with the sport your playing.

I have a standing contract with Nike golf. Our understanding is that they agree to supply me with unlimited apparel, shoes, clubs, etc. My agreement is that I will use their clubs, wear their shirts/shoes/shorts. Only stipulation is that I will not receive any endorsement dollars and I am obligated to find my own sponsorship money (namely Ok from wife). Otherwise, it's a great partnership.

I think you're thinking way too much into this. Work on your game and the insecurities go away.

Otherwise you'll look like Ryan Moore. Personally, I don't like the look; sloppy, unprofessional, etc.

I think it's fun to go to the course all logo'd up. Nothing wrong with wanting to look good at the course. I don't get to go all that often, so I make an event out of it.

I am personally looking to find some Puma gear for this summer. Stuff looks great.

Very interesting points being made. Obviously, if you have a contract that stipulates you wear certain things, then more power to you. You're living the dream. Unfortunately, no one is banging down my door looking to sponsor a grumpy mid-handicapper.

What struck me that day was the commercialism I was showing without having any checks in my mailbox from TM/Adidas Golf. I own a little bit of everything and usually mix it up, so it was a strange day where everything ended up with 3 stripes on it.

My usual philosophy is to wear a course hat while playing as hopefully a conversation starter. Something like "Hey, Sawgrass was a fun course, wasn't it?". Perhaps hypocritically, I love to wear logo hats in non-golf environments, like football games or at the park with my daughter. The previous comment about it being tough to find a "techy" polo shirt without a logo on it is totally correct and those kinds of shirts are almost required to play in Florida these days.

Keep the debate coming! Oh, and sorry for the banned word in the original post. Didn't mean to.

I just find everything blends together much better when you wear say all Adidas, Nike, JL, etc....its all part of a collection meant to be worn with other pieces in the collection. Not to say i don't mix it up, but there's nothing wrong with wearing an adidas shirt, pants and shoes. plus all you'll catch me in is 360 LTD's or adipures anyway unless i'm at a private club, that calls for the CDP's.

I wear all Adidas apparel and shoes, play TM clubs and wear a TM hat. I prefer that look and could care less what others think. Play and look however you want to and don't worry about what others think.

I just get what I like...I have some Ping mock necks because I like the material - I have a Ping polo because I like the look and I got it at a good deal. Getting all logo'd up shouldn't be a problem...if you hack around at least you look good doing it...haha

I tend to just always wear what ever hat I find that day - whether it be my Astros hat, a Coors Light hat, or my hat from my home course. I don't get too logo'd up per say...but then again - if it looks good and I can look good on the course it's alright.

I used to wear some pink pants to the course - Yea I am that little guy on the first tee that got made fun of for my pink pants by the groups behind us...till my buddy say's it sucks getting beat by a guy in pink pants....

I don't see any problem with wearing logo apparel. The only issue I have is the size. I don't want to look like Lee Westwood or Zach Johnson, logos everywhere.

It's up to you, ultimately. I could care less what someone wears. I rather have them play relatively quickly, have good golf etiquette and not start a conversation on their cellphone while I'm putting. (It's happened, repeatedly)

Sure, I have plenty of Adidas, Nike, Puma, etc. stuff, as well as some basic non-logo clothes. I just try to mix it up a bit. Saw one guy at the course last year that had the black Nike pants, red Nike polo, black TW shoes, and topped it off with a black VR hat. IMO this just came off as a bit cheesy, you should develop your own style. However, I also believe live and let live, wear whatever makes you comfortable and gives you confidence.drinks.gif

It's tough to find clothing that hasn't got some sort of logo these days. Small, unpretentious logos look fine to me though, and I see nothing wrong with a subtle breast or sleeve branding and a modestly-sized cap logo.

As long as you're not wearing a hat with ridiculously ostentatious branding on every aspect and the obligatory precision milled biscuit tin lid-sized belt buckle I don't think the odd nod to a clothing manufacturer or two is too hideous. More irritating to me is people who turn up looking as though they've slept in their clothes with scruffy shoes, rumpled and untucked shirts with curling collars, and trousers with creases everywhere except where there should be creases.

I'd sooner see a poser with a case of brand name overload than someone who obviously doesn't give a monkey's toss about how they look.

I have a closet full of Adidas and Mizuno; love their clothing. While I have a pair of 360's, I usually wear Etonic shoes. Bag is TM, as are the woods and hybrids; Cally irons; Mizuno wedges; Odyssey and Mizzy/Betti putters that rotate based on green speed. I have Adidas visors but golf caps are all course logo'd or non-logo'd.

So yes, I look like a TaylorMizzy guy I guess. I buy what fits and looks good to me, and is cool in Summer (Adidas) and warm in Winter (Mizuno). I have no brand loyalty other than I keep buying what what fits the bill. I suck at golf (90's), but still like nice clothes.

I definitely go to the course all "logo"ed up. But I at lease try to do it with a purpose. I try to support companies that I want to see do well and who have treated me great when I dealt with them. I wear almost all Travis Mathew clothes, including belt buckle. And now, since they released them, I am wearing Scratch hats. Waiting on my Scratch staff bag. For one, I play their clubs, but also, you wouldn't believe how many times already people have started asking me about their equipment, which is kind of my goal. I want to spread the word because I believe they are a great company with awesome employees. They don't pay anyone (really) to play their clubs, so I get to spread the word to the non-internet crowd by wearing their logos, and I think that of all the companies out there TM and Scratch are worth advertising for. They are smaller companies with great product trying to make amongst the the big boys. That is why I get "logo"ed out with their logos. That is just how I think about it though. For the most part I believe in wearing what ever the heck you like.

I wear Ping Tour Logo shirts and hats when I play. The course is the only place I wear them. I use Ping clubs, have Ping ball markers and have a Ping bag though I currently do not use it. Of course, I admit to being Obsessive Compulsive. I have plenty of no name polo shirts and other hats I wear off course. ;)

Living here in Atlanta on any giving weekend there are more guys wearing red shirts and black pants than anywhere else in the world. I bet most of them were wearing it before Tiger came around. So don't thing much of it really. Must be a UGA thing. By the way not a UGA fan, but I do wear Nike TW red polos with Tour logo on the chest and black pants and don't think much about it when I shoot 72. But then again I wear TW polo everyday....but then again I have been a product tester for Nike going on 17 years how and love they added golf.

He is joking people....

oh. i was being completely serious in my question. some amateurs are given a lot of free stuff, they're just usually really high ranked amateurs so i was surprised a 7 handicap was getting free gear.

I find nike polos and shoes to be the most comfortable for me, they seem to fit me well so I wear those almost exclusively. With pants, I bought some nike golf pants because they were on sale, and you cant tell that it is a nike. I sometimes switch between my nike and my titleist hat depending on which ball I am playing (just kidding...). Luckily, my bag is a hodge podge of Nike/titleist/Mizuno so from that perspective I dont look like a pro.

However, I do like to look good on the course, and if I look like a "pro" to some people then so be it. I will just focus on my game.

Thought it was obvious when I said that I needed ok from my wife for sponsorship money. If you know of a way to get me free gear, I am ready to release myself from my Nike contract.
