Info on equipment for 7-year-olds

I am looking at stuff for my twin boys, and there is quite a range of price/quality. We had good luck with US Kids Golf so far; any other stuff we should look at?

I was perfectly happy with any box set Dicks' had, (as long as there was a reasonable fit ) for my 5-7 y.o.'s. They are just having fun. The key is to get them to a par 3 course.

My youngest son (8 yrs) is playing a mixed set: Driver & Hybrid = Acculength junior club and Irons = Nike TW Black. the oldest boy (11 yrs) plays with a mixed set as well... Driver, FW & Hybrid = Ping Moxie set, they are fantastic clubs! Irons = US Kids (UL-57) He has now out growned the Ping Moxie and is moving to the US Kids Tour Series TS60 set. You can't go wrong with either brand.

The Ping Moxie set is very nice high quality for the little ones. My daughter loved that set and had some real success with it.

If they stick with it, the US Kids Tour Series stuff is great also. The clubs are color coded based on height ranges. You can order complete sets or limited sets.

The little ones don't need much more than a driver, a fairway wood or hybrid, 7 iron, 9 iron, sand wedge and putter.

You can't go wrong with Ping or US Kids Tour Series. They will even retain decent re-sale value. I would stay away from other boxed sets of lesser quality.

Just did a ton of research on this myself and came back to US Kids. This will be my son's second set (he had red set - now getting blue set for christmas). With their price and quality, you can't go wrong.

[size=5]acculength golf clubs[/size]. Like you change the face angle with Taylormade you can change the length of the clubs with a wrench.

I have tested them on a LM and they are great! If your kid grows just put another "link" in the shaft to make it longer and tighten it up. Saves you from buying a new set for a few years.

The Walter Hagen box sets at Dick's are super for the price. My son got his first set at 2, and beat them up pretty good for 3 and a half years. He just moved up to the second set this past summer. It has a driver, fw wood, hybrid, 3 irons, putter, and a bag, and you can get them on sale for around $100 if you keep your eyes open. I personally think they are just as good quality wise as the US Kid's stuff, and not quite as pricey.

My son is 7 and he has the black TW Nike set. It's okay but the bag is "ghetto" as my husband says, and the driver is a bit too short for my son - who is of average height. We got him a green US Kids Golf driver the other day and he's doing really well with it (136 yards) compared to the Nike driver (110 yards). This weekend will be his first tournament with the new driver. I can't wait to see how he does!

Good luck! I don't think you can go wrong with US Kids Golf. I'd choose them next time.

Started my son on a Dicks Golf in the Box (Acuity) for Jr's....moved to US Kids when I knew he really wanted to play a lot of golf. Donated the Acuity's and US Kids to the local "First Tee" which I suggest everyone does when their kid outgrows their Jr clubs.
