Sergio's Putting stroke

Some pretty interesting reply's, obviously I understood when i made the post that there are more factors in putting than just the stroke

Also didn't intend this to become a Sergio bashing thread(although i guess that was inevitable)

I had a putting lesson today using the TOMI system and found it both helpful and very interesting

Now i guess ill go search out a thread about a golfer i don't like and bash them on it..

Speaking on Tiger V Sergio and putting...

I read too much so I couldn't tell you which book I read this in, but it was on Tigers putting.

Apparently he breaks down EVERY part of the putt into multiple putts. I can't remember if it was every 5' or every break, etc.. but he literally turns each putt into steps and marks and then strokes the ball to hit the first mark and create a domino effect through the "rest of the putts". I always wondered how he could fist pump when the ball was 20' from the hole when everyone else in golf is holding their breath until it hits the cup.

Maybe everyone does it that way and I'm just an idiot. I sort of try to on accident, but it's usually 2-3 breaks at most. Maybe Tigers stroke really isn't very good, but his "first putt" is so short that he can't miss it and from there the read takes over...

Regardless, hard to argue over a part of the game that has so much art and science mixed together.......

I've watched Garcia play multiple times in person and his stroke makes me gag. He bats at the ball instead of stroking it (and adds loft). It's no wonder he can't control the speed. He'd have an easier time if he had more 'hit' in the stroke. It almost appears as if he is trying to keep the putter head moving at a constant speed thru the ball instead of accelerating thru to the finish...there's no hand feedback in that. It's funny because he swings with authority from tee to green....then he putts so timidly. Too bad because he's a supreme talent....Im sure he's a nice fellow but inside the ropes he's a head case.

[color="#0000FF"]I have read every post, but the one thing that nobody, and I mean NOBODY talks about is his head movement during the stroke in tournaments. He is moving his head at the top of his backswing through to the ball. I have been watching it for years. It has been the same story for years. He did it on 18 at The Open vs. Paddy, and he is doing it now. Belly or regular, it's the same thing. Until I see a major improvement with that, I am confident in saying that he is the current Monty, except he can win in the States.[/color]
