R7 TP EXACT SAME AS TOUR ISSUE

per TM website!
I was just looking at a different trajectory for my R7 TP on the TM website, when I noticed under the FAQ section the following info...

Is the R7 quad TP identical to the R7 quad drivers used by tour pros?
Yes, the quad R7 TP is identical to the R7 quad drivers used by tour pros. Not 'almost like', not 'similar to', they're exactly the same.

I always thought that the tour pro models were made of a higher grade titanium and bent open a degree or two. :vava:

Hell they probably are. I had a TP R7 and a tour issue and do you know what differences I felt and saw? Nada. A big nothing. However I can say that I know a few guys here that fight a hook all day and night. They have bought countless tour issue heads looking for the 1* or 2* open face. It will be hard to find that in the TP rack. I always felt that the TP lines in woods were similar to retail.

Another advantage one might get from the little tour serial #'s on the hozel is an added boost of confidence that the head could be special. What does special mean? Hell I don't know. What ever the player wants it to be. Rotella would love that.

Lets stay civil during this post. No attacks. Tour -vs- retail threads can be civil. :vava:

Please?!?

i think your going to find that all tour equipment is the same as retail, except that there are higher tolerances.

in the july golf magazine, they talk about tiger's equipment and make the note:

"manufacturing tolerances (of one-half degree loft) mean the 8.5* driver you buy could be 8.0* to 9.0*. But with stars like Tiger, clubmakers handpick driver heads to guarantee clubs (including backups) are the same loft to one-tenth of a degree"

as for the clubs being open or close, some of that is the club design, but some of that occurs in the tour vans.

i think what most seperates tour equipment and retail equipment are the shafts and the work done in the vans with extra weight added, weight subtracted, lofts, lies, face angles, grinds, finishes, etc....

if we are staying with the R7 tp vs the R7 tour issue that is one thing. If we are going into tour issue cleveland fairway metal vs retail (as an example) that is another thing. Tour heads at times are compelety different heads. Some the same and others different. Some cases where the shape is the same and there are different grinds and at times manufacturing differences. Here is an example of Cleveland tour and reail heads of hte same "named" fw metal.

tour issue 19* fw is on the right. Deeper face, sounds and flies completely different.

Yes, the quad R7 TP is identical to the R7 quad drivers used by tour pros. Not 'almost like', not 'similar to', they're exactly the same.

Here has always been my question with this statement... what do they mean by "the same"? Everyone seems to assume that they mean everything from shape and center of gravity to materials used... however... what basis do we have to make that assumption on? Is it possible that they simply mean the shape and appearance of the head, but not the materials or COG?

Here are two reasons I bring this question up:

1. There are tour and retail serial numbers on the heads. Technically speaking the heads are no longer exactly the same... one is designated with a special serial number while the other is not.

2. In the world of advertising phrases can often mean things that it seems they shouldn't. Until 1998 chicken that was labeled "fresh" could be frozen rock solid, transported and then thawed. I doubt many people include freezing rock solid in thier definition of "fresh".

Just some thoughts...

Welll......it has been a little overdone for sure..... they're special like george driving jon voit's car special....until you discover the nasty truth!!

But seriously....some are different, most are the same....you can't buy a proto but you can buy the best for your game at a retail store.
