Penta TP

Any thoughts on the Penta TP ball compared to other balls such as the PRO V1(x), Srixon's Z-STAR(x), Callaway's tour i?

Been using them for about a month. Before that used Srixon Z-Star X all of last year and Pro-V1x since it came out up until then.

So far I think it is as good a ball as I have played. It isn't noticeably better at anything than the Z-Star x or V1x, but it doesn't have any drawbacks either. I think the Z-Ztar X is the longest fo the 3, but other than that they are all pretty close.

Plays about the same as the TP Red LDP, but spins a bit more around the greens and feels better off of the putter. Not worth the price premium for me.

The Penta is a horrible ball if you want my opinion. The progressive softness doesn't work. It feels clicky, it DOESN'T spin around the green nearly as well as a ProV1, and it shreds even out of the rough. I think 5-peice is an experiment gone wrong.

Loved the TP Red but I didn't think that it spun enough around the greens. The Penta is wonderful. A great ball thats only draw back is the price. If they would have kept them at 2 for $55 it would be perfect. Just to expensive for my taste.

DEFINITELY not clicky. very very soft. does almost as advertised. hops and stops throughout the bag (except for the clubs that i can't stop on a green anyway). its weird how it works but it does. very good quality ball, just too much money.

Agreed. I really like this ball. Played kind of poorly with it one day and cut the cover up. Played really well with it (another Penta) and didn't scuff the cover at all. Interesting.

Clicky? If you want to feel clicky try last years Callaway's balls or this years Pro V1. Heck even the Nike ONE Tour that I use could be termed clicky... The Penta is very very soft but has a nice firmness to it. It feels solid but NOT clicky.

had played the nike tour last season and the ProV1x the season before. Tried the new callaways and wanted to like them, but when I got the penta, it was unreal. Love it off the driver, average with irons, great soft feel with wedges and the best feeling ball I have ever used with the putter. Just my 2 cents
