Will addding weight to puter make it feel softer?

i added weight to carbon putter-----?

So here is the situation! Putter #1 355 gram carbon steel. Feels like butter. Putter #2 just received yesterday, 342 grams carbon steel. Spent 3 hours on chalk line with number 2 and the putter feel not hard but not as soft as putter #1? So i added 8 grams of lead tape to putter number 2 now at 350 grams. Now it feels softer? Why?

Yes, as a general rule, adding weight to a putter will make it feel softer. Obviously that will change depending on where you add the weight: behind the face or down the shaft would soften the feel more than adding it to the sole because it would absorb vibrations directly. By adding mass to the putter, you reduce the relative force effected by the ball striking the putter by increasing the force effected on the ball by the putter...or something like that I think. I got an A- in my first semester of physics, so there's a good chance I'm about 10% off in my thought process, give or take some curve.
