How much weight to add when cutting down putter?

Cutting off 1", but want swingweight unchanged if possible

I have a Rife Aussie IBF Black putter that I just bought. Really like the feel at 35", but need to cut it down to 34" to fit me. The weight is listed as 345 grams on the rife website, and the swingweight is listed as E4-E6. If I cut down to 34", any idea how much weight I'll have to add back to the head to get back to the E4-E6 range?

Lead tape is the way to go. Put some on the sole of the putter and you'll be fine. Some people don't like the look of lead tape, I personally do. I have it on all my clubs except driver and hybrid.

To restore original swingweight you need 12g added to head to compensate for 1" shorter club.

The swing weight is a range. You'll not lose much feel over an inch so give it a try before adding weight.

If you're really anal about swing weight you should weigh it before cutting down so you know exactly what you are after.

If you want to maintain the exact swing weight you can have the head ported to add weight too.
