Are "suggested" swing speeds for balls a crock?

Hard premium balls suit my game despite advertising swing speed?

Ok, I have had enough of these golf ball marketing guys telling us what we should hit. If you ask me, they are just confusing us. I swing (driver) between 100-104 depending on my 46 yr old back that day. The longest and still good spin balls for ME are B330, ProV1X, Nike Vapor, and TM Reds. According to the "professionals" my favorites (330 and 1X) I should not even consider, so how does that work? I'm sure all 4 of those balls have different compressions and are made for "certain golfers" so how could all 4 work so well for me? Is it just me or does this baffle anyone else? Has anyone esle have similar results with my swing speed?

The B330 is the longest ball for me too and I swing about 15 faster than you do. But I would never consider playing the ball that was just the longest ball. I would imagine those balls are best for you because they spin the least. The B330 tour for me just doesn't perform around the greens and inside 80 yards. Its far more important to find a ball you are comfortable with hitting putts, chips, pitches, and iron shots with versus the one you hit the furthest. 5 yards off the tee doesn't mean much if you can't control the spin and distance when you get closer to the green.

Yeah, if you look at the info on websites it says "To get the most out of this ball, your swing speed should be between...". So if your swing speed is higher, you SHOULD get more spin out of it...

They aren't a crock, in order to gain the full benefit of the balls you need to be able to compress the cores fully. So if we all swung the club perfectly with perfect contact, they we could simply go by the fitting systems. However, we as humans aren't perfect and have all sorts of quirky swings that hit the ball too low, too high, too much spin, too little spin with different balls compensating for it.

Judging by the balls you hit the farthest and I assume you mean to say you hit them the best, you probably have high launch and high spin. So bringing down the launch and spin gives you alot more distance, which is not a problem. There are alot of LPGA players who swing in the 100 mph range who by all means should not be using the X balls, playing them.

Consider them just that suggestions, and not a golden rule
