the TX4-Pro *is* a premium urethane ball, just an older model. prolly has the most greenside spin of any current ball on the market. the Gamer V2 is a value-priced 3-piece ball with an ionomer cover that isn't in the TX4-Pro's league in terms of greenside spin, but it will be easier to hit straight than the TX4-Pro.

I'm looking at these as well, or maybe getting used TM TP red's which is what I play now. I have a fast SS, 117+/-. Will the gamer really be straighter? I thought the whole point of premium balls was that they would spin around the greens and NOT spin with the driver?

I'm with you, no idea.

My SS is 89 with a 6 iron...no idea with a driver. I'd imagine around 115-125 considering I regularly carry 280-300.

It looks, my friend, as though you and I are alone on this little island.

Nope, im here too!

My Driver SS is in the 115-125 range too (didnt have any warmup swings before I was tested)

I want a ball that is easy to control around the greens, and nice off the driver...

Good then. Atleast we're stuck on this island with other people to talk to.

We should start a club; "people who generate tour clubhead speeds but don't get their balls for free and can't afford to slice $5 into the woods now and then."

I think I'm going to try the gamer. If the tx4 spins more then the average ball off the driver, even a little bit, then that could spell trouble for me. I also don't know if I'd like a ball that checks up to much around the greens. I've never been someone who uses spin, I just want it to be consistent so I know what it'll do.

I've been on this forum for about 30 mins today and this will be my 3rd post professing my love for the Tx4! Sorry....

I won't do that, though, since you can read my other post, but I can compare the Tx4 and the Gamer based on my game. I played the Tx4 in the past as well as this year since they are so cheap. I played the Gamer most of last year. I don't hit it that long (only 240ish yard drives, 160 yard 5 iron), so you could definately say I have a slower swing speed, so my finding could be quite different than yours (and probably will be if you drive it 300 yards).

While I haven't played the V2, I understand the only real difference is that the V2 is more durable than the older model (if I'm wrong correct me). If I only had $20, I'd buy a box of the Gamers every time, over any other ball. It's long, it feels good off the irons, and it spins nicely for a none urethane ball. Feels nice off the putter too, soft and not clicky, which I know some people like. It's also really straight off the tee. I do think the dimple in dimple look is kinda odd, but you get used to it. The old Gamers were not durable at all. They would peel like an onion from a stock 7 iron shot sometimes.

The Tx4, however, is my preferred ball, mostly because of how it performs around the greens. I haven't played anything that feels better from 50 yards in than the Tx4. The one thing I'll let you know is that the Tx4 is very clicky, even off the wedges, and it's noticable off the putter, too. I find the "click" to be a pleasing sound, but I know some people don't like it, so ymmv. It spins like crazy, maybe more than the Pro V1, for me. I don't find that I'm any less accurate with the driver with it, and it doesn't balloon on me, but I don't have a 125mph swing either. Thankfully they are only $15, because I go through about 5 a round because they scuff up so badly (and I'm kind of picky when it comes to the condition of my golf ball, so keep that in mind; also, I've been know to get a few "wet" every round). But if greenside control is important, than the Tx4 wins hands down.
