PS - the sight line is perfectly straight when you set it up correctly, it just looks crooked here because I was having trouble doing that and holding my hugeass camera with one hand at the same time.

I am, actually. I'm determined to use the putter at least a few times, so I'm practicing on the carpet whenever I get a chance. I've putted lefty before, but over 10 years ago, did it for about 3 rounds and I'm not bad at it, lol.

Love the bag! How do the Black Golds play, and what would you compare the XVS7 to? It's on my to-try list. I've heard the BGs play stiffer, is that true?

I see those RIP 105 hybrids. Beastly! Those must be incredible. Let us know!

Thanks dude. It seems like I'm changing a lot these days, but I'm almost there, I promise (yeah right). The XVS7 is a very nice shaft and I was loving it. That is until I just found out this weekend that I'm getting better flight and ball speed from the XPP7 on average, so the XVS7 is heading to the BST very soon. I don't know why people are always knocking on the VS profile, but the XVS7 is a decently smooth shaft with mid launch and low to mid spin. It is no Kai'li, but isn't boardy by any means. Of the shafts I've hit, I guess it is closest to the Matrix HD series. The XPP7 on the other hand, makes the XVS7 feel like a Fubuki - they should just call it ProtoPIPE, because it feels like one. I can't argue with performance though, it just works for me. I have an F7M2 coming in this week and hopefully this will be it for driver shafts.

The Black Golds play close to a PX 6.5 to me. I got similar Trackman numbers with my X-Proto/BG and an X-Forged/PX 6.5 in terms of ball speed but slightly higher launch with the BG. I wouldn't really say they are stiffer, if anything they felt less stiff than the PX. Might have something to do with them having less stiff of a tip than the PX. The BGs are definitely smoother through the ball than the PX and probably have a tad more spin (Trackman I was on was indoors and didn't have enough forward distance to register spin). I may actually drop down a flex or two and go to some KBS Tours hardstepped, which would play around 6.2 for a little more playability - I feel like I really need to be "on" with X flex in my irons. Maybe its psychological, because I play X just fine in my woods.

One RIP hybrid is going into an Adams Pro Black 20 deg head and that will be here this week, so I should have some feedback then. I'm really loving the RIP in the 3W, which is why I opted for these to try in a hybrid. This isn't to say the Thump I have isn't good, they are just different.

Hope this babbling helps...

Wow, you have quite a bit going in and through that golf bag! I really like the sound of the XVS7, I could probably use a little lower launch and slightly more spin. That's ridiculous about the XPP7! What are the stats of it? I've liked the thought of the F7M2 for a long time.

That's interesting about the BGs. I had heard they were higher launch than the DGs, but didn't think they would be like the PX even though they aren't stepped. Swinging an XPP7, I'm surprised you think you have problems swinging the X in irons. I don't practice enough to swing an X in the irons.

That new Pro Black hybrid with the RIP will be sleek in black! You should go with a nice NDMC or Tour Velvet to match.

The XVS7 was really nice and I was very sad to see it go this morning, especially in those graphics, which you never see these days. Oh well...

I don't have the exact specs on the XPP7, but the Protopype 70X is 275 cpms, 2.8 torque, 72 grams, and low to mid launch. I'm guessing the XPP7 is very similar but maybe slightly heavier. It is boardy, but I feel like you can really get on it but it maintains stability, which is a nice feeling to have. The BGs do launch higher than X100s for me, so they are a nice in-between compared to the DGs and PXs. I think I sometimes take a lot off my irons and hit lots of 3/4 shots, which is why I'm liking the feel of something less stiff in the irons, I don't know to be honest. Could just be a confidence thing.

The RIP will have the first generation, midsized, full cord, GP Tour Wrap (I'm old school like that), so it will be all black, just like my 3W. That's also what the entire set will have soon - those grips are what I grew up with and are already in the hybrid, 3W, and wedges.

Tour Wrap Full Cord! Nice and old school, indeed. Wow, 275? That's beefy. MY Axivcore Black is 266, and not near the same profile.

I hit my irons somewhat high initially and like the X100s, but I don't play/practice enough to make use of them, so my S300s are just fine. I play alot of the finesse shots; heck, the MP32s make it easy for me to do that.rolleyes.gif

I would have stuck with S300s except they spun like a top and I had trouble on windy days. It was nice being able to stop the long to mid irons on the green though, when I could find it at least.

Only one thing that is missing, your swing video. Would love to see how you swing your driver and irons!
[/quote]

How about driver and hybrid?

Not exactly pictures of the new Supertri and hybrid with their new shafts, but all I have for now. Voodoo XPP7 in the driver and RIP in the hybrid.

Unfortunately, both were set up for draws (although I'm much more closed than I thought I was), so it looks like I'm crossing the line more than I really am. Both solid hits but on the driver I didn't really take it inside per my body line, but straight back on line, so it started left of where I wanted and was a high hook more than a draw to the left edge of the fairway. The hybrid shot was exactly where I wanted with a high draw, although I did lose balance on the follow through.

These were taken by a buddy during our round on Saturday because I was struggling with a block (more evidence I'm setting up closed and across the line at the top), so I'll have to get some DTL and face on vids with proper alignment for more complete critique. You can see the constant shuffling and adjusting as I'm trying to get my alignment, but to no avail.

LOL - I birdied it... after the tee shot I was left with 92 yards, hit it to 5 feet below the hole, and made the putt. :D Granted, it was the easy pin placement on the right side of the green and not tucked behind the hazard back left where it usually is.

Thanks. It is great if you are a solid long iron hitter, but it is actually pretty easy to turn over and hook. Not sure if it is a function of the offset and shaft, but the shaft is a pretty stout one, so maybe it's just my swing, lol. When I am swinging well though, it is a nice mid launch head that is workable and will hold most greens when struck well, unlike some of the other players' hybrids I've tried that just come out low and hot all the time.

I don't think it's you. I had the same issue with the Pro Black hybrids. Way too easy to turnover, especially when you go after it. But if you put a nice tempo swing on it, the thing is a long and straight. I'm thinking about getting the tour deep face version to try out.

BTW, sweet setup. The Callaway X-Prototype's are beautiful clubs. Still contemplating if I should get a set. How's the ball flight with the KBS?

Sorry, didn't realize you responded here too, haha. The X-Protos/KBS are great, mine are hardstepped once, so I think that has helped keep the ball flight under control. I like that they launch high but they definitely don't balloon on me. Trajectory is consistent and dispersion is better than DGs, for me at least. As everyone says, they are really smooth. My one potential complaint is that my short irons, ie. 8-PW have more backspin than I remembered having with the Black Golds, so I wonder if that's because of the shafts or my swing has changed a little. I'm not unhappy with that, it just takes some yardage and shotmaking adjustments to get used to. If it does turn into a problem, I guess I could put some Xs in the short irons or something.

I think I'm going to stick with the Pro Black hybrid for now... it is still one of the few that I find I can hold greens with. The TM Rescues and Pnts are all bombers, but I can't seem to get consistent results when I have a long approach. I think my Pro Black is almost more accurate than my 5 iron, lol.

Yeah... I always wonder if I should pick up a spare set of X-Protos just because I love them so much... so many clubs, so little time (and money). biggrin.gif

Puppet,

I love the putter cover as well as the rest of the sticks... what a great set-up. Can you comment on the Throttle? I am very tempted to pick one up in "X-Flex" as they are super cheap on the Bay. How does it compare to say a PL Red, Whiteboard, or any other "Low Launch, Low Spin" shafts that you have used? I hit a 9.5* SuperDeep TP with RIP 70S shaft and had great launch (12*), but my spin was in the 4000's, lol. Thanks PD
