Made an innocent stop at E.Watts today and...

How many times have you heard this story?: I made an innocent stop at Edwin Watts today with no intention of buying anything but some ProV1x's. But, of course, I could not resist fiddling around with the putters. Next thing you know, I started making everything with sweet little Yes! Tracy II. And, of course, it was on sale for $90 bucks! So they cut an inch off and I went home with her.....now my gamer might have to do a little time in the penalty box while I give this one chance at cracking the starting line up.....isn't one of the first steps to recovery admitting you have a problem? Well there's my mea culpa.

I have learned that there is no such thing as an innocent stop at a golf store. You may not end up buying anything that day but something will peak your interest and will bring you back to spend money another day.

I think you will like it, have a Tracy myself. Takes some getting used to because they are a tad bit heavier, but they roll nice.

On a more relevant note: it looks like a nice putter--and, of course, there is no such thing as an innocent stop at a golf shop. At least not for members of this board.

Yeah - I'm making an "innocent stop" at Golfsmith on the way home. To jallstar's point - last time I was there rolled a few putts with a PING Karsten Piper that did nothing but find the bottom of the cup. For $65 it should have come home with me that day. However, I'm saving my $$$ for some new irons. Might not have the same will-power if it is still there today though as...

...TODAY IS PAY DAY !!!

Nothing like finding a sweet deal on a used club! A third of my bag is probably from finding gems in the used bins at Roger Dunn golf stores in Southern California.

Nice putter. I did it online and snagged a 907D2 mint for $85.00. Just survived the putter, irons and wedges fever - on to drivers and fairway woods.

Update on the impulse purchase, familiar story with a familiar ending:

 

Went out this weekend and turned a potentially really good round into a so-so 78. I had a lot of great looks, but only made 1 putt of any significance and my only birdie was a two putt on a par 5....Isn't that always the case though? You can't miss on the practice green in the store, but get that magic wand in your bag and on the course, nothing falls. I still like the putter a lot. Good weight and clean set up. As usual, I think it was more of a case of the indian and not the arrow. It only took me about 16 holes to realize I had changed my set-up a little and once I fixed that, everything started to come back.

 

Of course, I watched Rory M's putting performance on Sunday with a putter very similar to my usual one and I could almost hear my gamer taunting me from the garage: "I told you so"
