125+, there's a few guys on here that i've played with that would say it's higher but the last time i was on a monitor the highest i got it was 131mph, but i doubt thats how hard i swing on the course. when i was 16 i think i was hitting the Hawkeye BB driver with a proforce shaft, but golf was just a hobby back then.

I know you're busy getting ready for Florida, but I had one quick question. I have CG2's right now and really thinking of going to a combo set. The only thing that is holding me back is the seperation of chrome to satin in the middle of the set. Is this distracting having satin in your long irons and chrome in your short? I wish you the best of luck this year, and hopefully we can hook up and play when I'm down in the Mass/R.I. area.

Bryan, Cleveland had just sent me satin CG1 irons a few weeks ago to replace my chrome ones but it didn't really distract me. if it really bothered you that much i am guessing you can just sand the chrome off, but to me it really didn't matter, but i was waiting to get the satin CG1 irons to match the CG2's. we will definatly get together when your around, I noticed from Yarmouth, Maine. i have a buddy that lives up there who i played jr. hockey with, TJ Carmody, not sure if you know him. i've got a few U Maine buddy playing hockey there & my former jr. coach & U Maine captain in 92 Dave LaCouture i believe live in Yarmouth or right by there. figured i'd ask if you know them. hope this helps!

I just moved up here about 6 years ago from Texas, so I'm not really familiar with some of the guys that are in college by now. Yarmouth is a great little town, and we have been known to be very successful with hockey, especially with the Casco Bay team which brings kids from all around southern maine to compete against other states. If you are big into hockey, you've probably heard of Travis Roy (he was a really good player for BU, but I guess 11 seconds into his first college game he suffered a severe spinal cord injury - he's written a book called 11 Seconds which is really a good and inspirational read if you have the time) but anyways, he grew up in Yarmouth so he's pretty much a local hero. A lot of my Dad's family lives in Orono so they probably know all the UMaine players, I only make it up to 2-3 games a season.

 

Yeah I was looking at your WITB pics again, and I guess the Chrome -to- Satin didn't look too bad. What advantages have you seen with having the 1's in the lower irons, just a lower ball flight and easier to control?

i played hockey for the Texas Tornado's & lived in North Richland Hills! the ball flight is acutally lower with the CG2's than it is with the CG1's, we fooled around with getting the shafts right & weight higher on the CG1's to lower the ball flight. i thought the guys on the van were crazy when they had told me the CG2's were a lower flight than the CG1's but they were right, thats why i started out with a full set of CG2's at 1st. IMO these irons have worked the best for me, i'm not sure what it is about them but they are the most consistant. Bryan you too have ha wonderful holidays.

No wonder you have a high swing speed, hockey is a natural translation to golf. How did you like the NAHL? I went from HS right to college, back then (92) junior hockey was not as prevailant an option for kids as it is now, the Junior Bruins at that time were just getting started. Hell I has to sign a waiver from the NCAA to begin practice at school since I had not yet turned 18. Back to swing speed and length, most of the guys I played college and minors with that golfed could murder the ball, I am the exception.

Adam has been into my closet!!!! He know's what's up, LOL. I really liked the NAHL, Texas was the team to play for & Curtale loved me. I played the Jr. Bruins in the EJHL playoff finals when i was with the Walpole Jr. Stars, down 2-1 going into the 3rd & on a fresh sheet of ice after intermission we scored 2 PP goals to take the lead. I played all over the place, even after junior hockey. I will say I liked the NAHL better than the USHL, but playing in Texas is the best, all my friends always asked how I got with all the right teams, we packed the Blue Line Center, sell out everynight!

I am unsure why my reply to this post was taken down. A statement of fact such as "Jon Hom played 4 games for the Tornado in 2001, registering 1 assist" is considered inappropriate? Someone asked a question, and I gave them the information they were looking for.

If someone mentions a specific shaft in a post and someone wants to know the torque, will my reply be removed if it is accurate?

I'm looping for Jon this week, and I guess I'll do a little "WITB". This kid can hit the ball damn well, he hits his driver a MILE and half, and hits 7 irons off par four tees just so he can get to the 150's (which is a wedge for him!!!). If he can just get his short game together and learn some new shots around the greens, he'll be doing just fine :yahoo:

I saw the Scratch irons in person, but with the PX's in there they were an overall lighter feel, so being used to the CG's with the TC's he was used to a little heavier feel. The work on the irons are incredible, the finish is the antique raw finish, absalutely amazing. After spending a few days with Jon, he's really a great guy, and if he can just get his short game together he'll be just fine on whatever tour he plays on because from tee to green his game is damn solid.

NC AGAIN!?!?!?! Isn't NC basically walking off the course without turning your score in? If there really is a TM sponsorship, maybe someone at Tmag is going to be REAL happy with the cleveland bag...

I have been pretty vocal in the past regarding claims made in posts and any inconsistencies with reality these posts might contain. I know others have as well. I understand the moderators do a great job here trying to maintain the integrity of the board by trying to limit name-calling and bashing between members. What I still honestly believe that if someone is coming on this board and posting blatant fabrications, it shows a complete lack of respect for the board, the members and the game of golf in general.

 

I feel bad for the kid who tried to caddy for him. If I were to read some of the previous posts, I might have been led to believe that I coudl carry a bag for a few days and maybe end up making a few hundred bucks or so and get to spend 4 days or so watching guys try to make a lving out of the amazing game of golf.

 

OK, I think I am probably toeing the line again, which I really do not want to do. Again, I think te integrity of the board is compromised when poeple show a lack of respect for EVERY member by posting falsities.

 

ANyways, if anyone is interested, PM me. I have got some great reading some folks might enjoy.
