I am a 16 year old teenager too and I have had the same problem. But my case is solved. I made a deal, I quit playing video games and then they bought me a new set of irons. Look sig..

One other thing that we (me and my parents) are doing is that we are paying 50/50. But they only pay 50% if I need the clubs. As for my Scotty they didn't pay a buck.

All of you that is telling the OP to get a job please READ his first post and you know that he can't because of school.

Good luck mate!

Too beefy for your tastes? You're a bit spoiled for my taste. Google Veruca Salt.

Daddy, I want new irons and I want them now!

Do you think new sticks will suddenly thrust you to below par scores consistently? Have fun with your friends and have fun with what you've got. Your life will be more enjoyable. Think how full of yourself you'd feel if you got exactly what you wanted.

You sound like you're 16 going on 13, not 16 going on 20.

Guys don't bash a kid for wanting his parents to buy him some clubs. And do you guys really think it is super easy to find a job these days?????!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are people with degrees out there who can't get jobs!

+1, my dad's is in that situation. He has a masters and no one will hire him. It isn't as easy as just applying and being hired...

If you want a good story here ya go. I was in high school, had golf practice, plenty of homework, and still balanced a job which i worked almost 35 hrs a week! If i could do it then you can. Heck i saved my money and got a tour issued set of Titleist Ap2s WITHOUT ANYONES HELP! If i could do all that and get a set of ap2s without even selling my current irons at that time to get more money either BTW! Then u can too.

fwiw, I got a used set of Titleist 735cms used for $200 and they're as good as any new club I've found. They feel very similar to VR blades as far as thickness goes, comparable to the X-protos and MP 62s in feel. Excellent clubs, see if there's a golfsmith around you with used sets and go in and hit a bunch of different ones off the mat and pick one that feels really good to you. :D

Ive been fortunate enough in my life that my parents support me in whatever hobby I have. For my brother it was guitar, they helped him get a starter set and then a nice acoustic for a graduation present. However, he bought his brand new les paul with his money. For me, it's golf. I never got nicer clubs until this last year. I got a used set of Mp-62s after a ton of looking on ebay for 300 bucks, my hybrid I bought with my money, I got a Scotty from a friend for 100 bucks. The only clubs my parents have ever straight up bought were a driver and a 4 wood for my grad present, and my 2 wedges. All the while my brother and I have both been #1 in our class, gotton our first couple years of college paid for in scholarships, held jobs, and more. They have had to tell my brother and I no on multiple occasions. What they did was kind of start us off and help a little, but then shift it to where we are much more self-reliant. And let me tell you, I almost never ask them for anything anymore. Couldn't be happier. But while saying you have school and golf practice so you cant hold a job, Im sorry that isn't true. Ive had so much more on my plate at one time and can still pay for my golf clubs I know that it is absolutely possible for you to hold a job for at least a few hours a week. And guess what, we do not struggle for money, whatsoever. We have just learned the value of hard work and what it can get us.
