Work or Golf

alright so the past few days ive been thinking i want to quit my job and become even more dedicated and focused on golf than i already am( note im 18yrs old going into my senior year of HS) i love practicing and playing and its all i want to do right now. My dad tells me the golf is more of a priority than work, they need me more than i need them. i know that sounds kind of stuck up but tht is the reality of it. my mom on the other hand is the opposite. i want to play in more tournaments not just the one a week im limited to with the one day off of work i get, any advice on what you would do if you were in this position.??

Well...I have a couple thoughts on this...

[list][*]You're only young once...now is the age to do what you want before you get the added pressures of responsibility.[*]If golf is something you wish to pursue as a career (however difficult that might be), choosing golf at this point would make some sense.[*]It might suck to quit work and not have any money. By the time I was 16, there were many thing I wanted that required $$.[*]If you will pursue a career outside of golf, my observation is that those who worked in their late teens and 20's (during college) typcially have a good sense for business and working with others. There's some basics learned those early years that just seem to give a leg up on others who didn't work much at all.[/list]Best of luck in your decision.

You've got the rest of your life to work. If you're parents are willing to support you for a few months before you head to college go for it. As long as it doesn't put a strain on anyone why not.

I'm at a similar stage to you, age-wise, and for the last couple years I've just worked part-time from mid-October through March. Then I take the summer off, and essentially live at the golf course.

personally i work full time and its hurt my golf game, why dont you get a part time job is golf is so important?

I work in the mornings like 8:00-1:00, then I grab lunch and either practice or play for the rest of the day. My boss usually lets me get off for days that I have tournaments, and I don't work weekends, so I play in tournies that are mostly on weekends.
