TM R7 TOUR average headweight?

Recommended Posts

Definitely see a lot of OG hos here, wow!

CALLING ALL TOUR R7 users.....

Anyone know the average head weight to these clubs. From what I have heard they are usually around 201-205g. I wieghed mine out the other day and it came out to 209 g with standard weights (24g).

Is this on the heavy side? Have it shafted with a Fuji 660TR and it feels likea ton. Can anyone shed some light here?

THANKS :(

Could have some rat glue or hot melt in it..you sure the bore was completely cleaned out? Only thing I can think of..I have a couple that are 206-207 with clean heads on the inside..

Ezgo,

Pretty sure it was cleaned out, the head was brand new when I received it. Are some heads just internally heavier than others?

all the ones I have come across usually fall within 3 or 4 grams of one another..the only heavy ones were already shafted and weighted with either hot melt or rat glue..someone else may have more knowledge on this than I..champ?

I'm 99.99% sure that has rat glue inside for that kind of weight. The heaviest i;ve seen without a rat glue w/ standard weight configuration is 206 grams.

I'm working on one of the tour R5 TP w/ 210 grams total w/ 18 grams total weight. I've checked and it sure enough have rat glue in it. I put mineral spirit and clean it out as much as i could and it end up at 207 now.

Good luck!

Joey/Champ,

So what is the best way to check that? If it is Rat glue can I remove some to eliminate some of the weight in the head? Should I try to use less weights in the head, like 18 instead of 24g? I seem to be hitting just fine, but a session at the range and it starts to wear on you :beach:

Would that cause the club to also sound very muted at impact? Definitely does not sound as high as my past TP version. Some have said that is a characteristic to all the TOUR heads.

But thanks for the info - really helps out to be EDUBACATED as much as possible :(

Thanks.

PS GREAT SITE BY THE WAY

Change to a lighter screws would be the easiest IMO, plus the muted sound kind of what a lot of people looking.

Taking out the rat glue is a B**** if you are not a patient person. :rtfm:

Good luck!

R7 DF Tour w/standard 24g weights

I have 1 at 201 grams and 1 at 205 grams.

After Joey's comments, it would probably be worthwhile to try the head with lighter weights to get your desired swing weight. The problem with rat glue is that it is not only used to change the head weight but will also affect the center of gravity hence altering the ballflight, all else being equal.

My take is to try it, mess around with the weights and if you still don't like the ball flight, you need to give Joey a call!

Cheers

If it is heavy AND muted, then I bet it has a significant amount of rat glue in it....I don't know what head weight mine is, but it has a 2, 10, 11, and 5 in it (28g) and is only 44 1/4" with a ProtoPype 60-X and wieghs only D-2!

44 1/4? wow fairway finder! Tibs, may I know your SS and your average driving distance :( ?

I want to envy you

Cheers

I don't have any problem hitting it 300+, but I'm also 6'3" and 235 lbs :rtfm: ....and that is no internet inflated statistic either :( !

My ss isn't as high as some longer hitters....only about 118 mph with the driver!

118!!! I am only up to 105 with the driver...I need my 45 incher to touch the 300 mark :beach:

Need more :help: I'll still trying to smack the back of golf carts :good:

Cheers dude!

DDDDAAAAMMMMMNNNNN Tibs  Wish I had that stature in my arsenal - that would probably help my drives and overall distance.

I guess I really got hit with ASIAN short stick :beach: I wish I was averaging 300+ (sometimes close though, but only 5'8 150lbs :help: and takes every ounce of that 150lbs to get it there!)

In regards to the the club question I had, I will definitely try out the different weight combos to see if that will help (simple enough) and in terms of the sound, I like the muted sound over the "Cobra bang" that some drivers have.

Thanks for ALL the insight :good:

I have always thought that I hit it relatively long for a reasonably "normal" swingspeed, but I have also dropped mail on a few guys who claim to be in the high 120's :( , so who knows :rtfm: ?

Also, I drive it pretty damn straight for a longer hitter.....now if I could only handle a wedge as well as I do a driver, I wouldn't be sitting here typing about it :beach: !
