You need to apply and be interviewed, but pretty much everyone will be accepted. Call IMG academies in Bradenton and ask for a folder with all of the year round information. You will also be sent an application. If you haven't already done so, I would highly suggest going to the camp first to get a feel for the place. Also to see if you like the Leadbetter method which some do and some don't. I loved the facilities and camp but realised that for $50,000+ a year I could recieve similar training at home. If you can afford it, it's definetly a cool place to go.

50k a year? That is wild. Go to college with that money, statistically a much better investment. You could take lessons from a decent instructor every single day of the year for that price. I would guess that even the most golf psycho people around could only do about 325 days of golf a year. Still that is $150 a day.

You could play Pebble beach over 100 times for 50k. You could probably hang out and golf in St. Andres for a week every month for that much money (airfare/hotel/rental car/food included). Still, there are people who want to see go to Leadbetter all year round. Go get 'em.

Yeah but if you go to Leadbetter your pretty much garunteed a golf scholarship to college therefore you aint gonna have to pay for college and also get to do what you love every day of the year

That's not true. First of all, I've known several people who have gone to Leadbetter and haven't gotten golf scholarships, and several others who got very burnt out on golf while there. Secondly, if you do get a golf scholarship, you are lucky if it covers half your tuition. Somebody correct me here if I'm wrong, but don't fully funded teams have only 2.5 scholarships? And that's too split up among most everybody.

Well, some true some false. i don't go to DLGA but i do go to another golf school. The reason you go there is because you are good enough at golf to try to go to college and above. The 40,000$ pays for all staying and the whole school year worth of the academy. Basically if u are good enough to even think about spending that money then its worth it because you play tournaments all year round and will most likely get a scholarship. If your not willing to give up ALOT of things in your life for golf then its not the place for you. Some kids are goal orientated and have decided that no matter what they will make it some day. basically you WILL get better if u want to. Some kids go there and don't give a hoot about golf or wanting to be there. So obvisously thier golf game reflects that. But if its for you, you will know in the end.

But if u are looking at the same golf academy type. try looking into www.missinglinkga.com. 3 coaches. 1 has taught 11 AJGA all americans (use to work for DLGA), another one played on the PGA tour (brother is still on the tour) and the last one was Paula Creamer's Ex-coach. Its cheaper than DLGA for one.

39,000 plus tuition at Pendelton, Bradenton Academy, or the Catholic school. PLus tournament fees, spending money, equipment money, tavel expenses, etc. It adds up quickly and can easily get to over 50K. I considered doing it, but my family didn't thin it was worth the money, and after attending camp there for 3 weeks I didn't think it was for me. An amazing place, but you've got to go there and experience it before you decide whether or not you want to spend 9 months there. In addition you could check out Missing Links or the International Junior Golf Academy on Hilton Head. Gary Gilchrist, who used to be the head guy at IMG and was Wie's coach before he left Leadbetter, is the head at IJGA.

at DLGA one semester runs between $20,000-$35,000. It depends whether you live on campus or off of campus. Also if you go to the academy and perform well in tournaments and prove to the coaches and directors that you are a worthy player who is very goal oriented and wont waste their time they will putyou on anywhere from full to partial schlarship for the rest of your career as long as you continue to perform and improve. I havemany friends who goto or have gone to leadbetter. My one friend went down spring semester of junior year and it did wonders for her. to make a long story short she earned a full ride to Arizona. then for senior yer the academy put her on scholarship so she could continue to work with her coach and prepare for college and amateur golf.

Women's DI get 6 scholarships per team

db9 i cant comment on missinglink though i have heard very good things about it. but i can comment on IJGA and DLGA...for the same amount of money you should go to DLGA rather than IJGA hands dont there is no comparison UNLESS you parents are willing to pay the extra money for you to work with Gary Gilchrist who is the director at IJGA and was Leadbetter's righthand man at DLGA. Heworks with one of my friends even thoughhe doesnt go to theacademy and he is now ranked insidethe top 70.
