Maxfli Tour balls

Anybody tried them?

I see that Golf Galaxy, and presumably Dick's, is now selling the Maxfli Tour balls they've been promoting, including the Tour LC for golfers with slower swings.

I was very surprised to see that they're selling for $40/dozen, or about the same as other premium, urethane cover balls.

Has anyone tried any of the Tour balls? I suspect I'll wait until they (inevitably) go on sale for much less.

After much cajoling, Golf Galaxy sold me a sleeve (instead of making me buy a dozen) of the new Maxfli Tour ball. I wanted to try the Tour as its supposed to be spinnier than the LC and is for "moderate" swing speeds. I didn't play it but did use it in the short game area. The ball really spins and is very soft off the putter.

Golf Galaxy indicated that these two new balls are on the market to compete with the two new Bridgestone RX versions.

I like the looks of ball, plain simple - all black lettering.

I'll be alternating between this ball and the Bridgestone RX S tomorrow.

According to the Maxfli website, these all feature a 318 dimple cover, which is different from existing TM patterns. I wonder if TM is still the engineering/design partner for these? Previous versions looked to be prior TP models, suggesting a overstock elimination partnership. I won't be hitting these soon due to a large TP LDP Red stockpile, which may be followed by a Wilson or Zstar dalliance.

I wanted to try the Tour XD, its the higher SS version. When I found out they are $40+ a dz. and I get the Z star X for $32, HA think I think not!
When this ball is inevitably marked down to 50% off I might try it.

The Tour version (not the XD or the LC) really spins. IMO it spins about the same as the ProV1.

Wasn't impressed with the distance but I had a new shaft in my driver so I'll reserve judgement on that subject.

** The cover scuffs/blemishes pretty easily.

I have tried both the Tour & the Tour LC.

My swing speed is 87 mph, hence the Tour LC.

Distance was about the same; feel was about the same.

Both discolored easily cut, it mishit.

Thought I was having flashbacks to the 1970's

Yes, these are good balls from the same assembly line as the Penta. Like several other high-end name brands, they may discolor sooner than others however.
