I believe his wedges measure out to 53 and 59 degrees. His 3 wood is at 12 degrees, which is nuts. I know hes a high ball hitter, but thats a STRONG tre wood

I love how the latest marketing e-mail from Titleist implies that Steve Stricker plays AP2 irons. You have to go to his bio page on Titleist to read that he actually plays 755 irons. I guess the gang in Fairhaven aren't happy that the #2 player in the world is playing irons that are 2 model years old.

Steve Stricker has been using his Titleist 755 irons for a very long time. Since 2006, in fact, which is quite some time for a PGA Tour pro to use irons. He's won five times with the 755's, including in this year's Northern Trust Open.

But now, after poor ball striking at the Masters, Stricker might consider upgrading.

"I may try something different," he said. "I've been monkeying with some different sets the last year or two and now might be a good time to switch it up, just to get a different look and a different feel down there."

Stricker said he was looking at using Titleist AP2's, which he has tested and likes.

"I like the way I hit them, I just couldn't pull the trigger on them and I may do it this time," he said.

Hi All,
I'm new to GolfWRX but am always eager to get the lowdown on equipment used by the pros. I'd be grateful to a response to my question.

Whenever a thread is posted regarding "WITB", the pro's wood shafts are always a higher weight than the ones used by amateurs.

For instance, Strickers driver is UST Proforce V2 86 shaft

By the time it is trimmed to length it must play quite stiffer than most amateur shafts.

Why do pro's use heavier weighted shafts in their woods?

Regards

Very simply for control. Lighter shafts provide more distance, heavier shafts provide more control.

Funny, but it seems everyone and their brother on tour uses whatever clubs and a Titleist SC putter. Stricker, who's sponsored by Titleist, uses an Odyssey.
