Looks Like Kevin Burns Putters is Back in the Game

I had left them for dead years ago

I don't know if anyone remembers Kevin Burns putters, but they had a pretty good run after Ollie used one to win the Masters one year. When I was playing golf with my 14 yo son this weekend, I had forgotten I had put a 9304 in his bag. Still a quality putter.

Anyway, a couple of years ago, I had called out to order a putter. Talked with their office, who said they were retooling and were not taking orders. Well, that seemed to go on FOREVER, and I just kind of forgot about them. Sort of assumed that they just ended up swirling the drain before going down.

Just did a google and found their updated website. Seems that they are back, with full customization options. Looks like it could be kind of cool. Website is http://www.kbputters.com/index.php?q=node/4

I don't have any affiliation with them at all, but just thought I would throw out a name that once meant a bit but hasn't been heard from lately.

Good to know. I too thought he was pretty much not to be heard from again and always wondered about what he was up to.

Some of the top players in the world at one time chose his putters without any compensation. He could probably jump on board a big company and design for them, but I suspect he'll keep it personal, just as always. His website isn't very flashy, but it's nice that it's been updated.

These were intro'd at the 2009 PGA show I think. IMHO, I don't really think it's an attempt to get back in the game. An extreme niche. I've never heard of anyone who has seen them or any shop that has this system.

Too bad because I used a 9303 for years. Great putter.

He's had his new operation going for at least a year. I don't think he's getting much traction in the market.

What happened, at least part of it, is his $650,000 mill broke down and the manufacturer wouldn't send a rep out to work on it or fix it. Took him 5 months to get it fixed. Found out from a Golf Digest article I stumbled on looking for something else. The article is called Chasing Scotty Cameron. Pretty good read actually.
