Anyone want to start a pool on how many Method 001's are sold over the next couple weeks?

If you plan on playing your scotty's keep em if your a collector I'd be offloading those bad boys quicker then a fat kid eats a cupcake. Scotty had the market by the balls for a decade, it's over now so value is going to decline and people are not going to be happy.  And IMO this is going to happen regardless of whether tiger is playing it or not.  To many great putters out there now, scotty isn't the only show in town in fact he's fell behind companies.  More and more players on tour are replacing their scotty's.  The proof is in the pudding, watch any big tourney and count the amount of scotty's you see.  Big time decline.

37% of putters in play on the Tour still leads all other manufacturers.

Yes - but guess which brand is leading for the most times in the winner's circle this year on the PGA tour? Odyssey. And last year Scotty lost the PGA winner's circle court for the first time in a long long time also to Odyssey. Although Scotty is leading in putters in play as of now, other manufacturers are making inroads that they have not been for years.

Exactly, I could care less about the method and I think Scotty makes a great putter but to deny that he is losing ground in the putter market is just foolish, it's happening and it's going to get much worse. His death grip is over and we should all be happy about it because his putters will come down in price for those who like to use them. Most top player I know don't play scotty's anymore, instead bettinardi, rife and Taylormade Agisi inserts.

Chicken Little? Cluck Cluck? I think you should read a big boy book. Sorry I hurt your feelings about Scotty, you must be playing a putter of his. Truth hurts

Good information so far, thanks guys! It's nice to have a half civilized conversation every once in a while. Especially when the one who may not be spoken of is part of the discussion lol. I might try an 001 at some point if I find a good deal. I do need a second putter just to freshen things up when the edges start burning. I don't think I will be trying a ghost though, I still can't get past the white. I haven't had one outside on the greens though so maybe I'll reconsider.

I have two scotty's which I have picked up in the past two weeks and a Method 001 which I have had for about 3 months now. The method is great, it was a gift from my GF so just as Tiger, I am almost forced to use it even though she has never been to the course with me lol. I like it a ton though for sure. Just wish it had a little more head weight, like my 37" Piretti

If Tiger wins this week with the Method, I think we'll see a bunch of people jump on it. Heck...I wouldn't mind owning one...but I didn't care for the retail version...alright, but just not my taste in feel.

Now I might try to game a Limited Edition version since everyone says the LE versions were made here in the US (vs. retail made in China) and there is a difference...I can't say since I've never tried one...

Good luck on finding a LE Method without someones name or initials on it. I have been looking for one since the release last year!

I didn't say he was winning, and honestly couldn't care. I really don't like Scotty or his attitude toward those of us that purchase his putters. I do game one because I haven't found anything better to suit me than the Squareback. That said, the post I was quoting was talking about how many were in the bag and how people on Tour were dropping them like a bad habit. My point was while there are players switching, he does still lead all other manufacturers as far as players with his putter in their hands. Does what they use influence my purchases or what's in my bag? Nope, I'd put with a tin can on a broom handle if I putted the best with it. I haven't putted better with anything than my Squareback since I bought it. I gamed a SeeMore for 10 years with the occasional trial with other putters. The SeeMore will likely make it's way back into the bag again if this Squareback goes cold.

I have no brand loyalty. I was just making a statement about the post I quoted. I don't collect putters, I game putters. I don't buy wall hangers. The only thing I do like about Scotties, right now, is that I can buy one that's beat to death, refinish it and make money because of the stigma around them.

Will the price of all the Scotty GSS's go way down???

Not that I have one...
[/quote]

Way down? Not for a while, the collectors will still want top dollar for them and won't want to take a big loss, so they'll still likely price them out of a lot of people's range. But, if you're a new collector, now is probably a good time to get in. I collect putters, to try out and see if they can knock my current putter out of the bag. They're nearly all of the OTR variety too. Don't see what the big whoop is about the collector putters. You game them and you devalue them. What good is a putter that you have to sit and look at, honestly?

how absurd, hit that putter once and you realize that it makes a better hammer, but still has no feel.

Tiger was paid big, big bucks to switch and all of you are shelling out big bucks to be like him. Try getting fit for a putter and you might roll one or two birds per round.

In all seriousness, as soon as 2011 comes around he will be back to his SC, you dance with who brought you, get a swing coach Tiger.

As with all equipment, It should fit the individual, not because
a pro golfer is using it !!! That said, watching Woods teetering on
the fence between two putters and the short putt that Casey missed
earlier Sunday, at the Open, I think the sales of Method putters this week
will be slow!!!

Play Golf.....Play Blades......Play Something Else.....Just Go Play.....

  • 2 weeks later...

Not a big fan of the method putters but I do like the idea of Tiger pairing up with Jack Hamm and putting the Hammer into his bag. POW!
