Greenbrier....Mallets Galore!

Wow that was some putting by Appleby and Overton. It seems like the top 5 all were using a mallet of some sort....Odyssey, Kombi...you name it.

 

Could mallets help more of us using blade-type putters?

From my experience (biased since I switched to a ghost!) it seems when I use my scotty blade I have a bit more touch but make less from 10 feet and in than if I use my ghost.

I like the way mallets line up and face centered ones wanna stay square. I feel it is easier for me to start it on the line I want.

I have played an Anser-style putter for most of the past 15 years, all different makers. I recently switched to a big, MOI-style mallet and am having a tough time getting back to anything that resembles a blade. I even put a new, full custom model together and LOVE the look of it, but when I get to the green, out comes the mallet and down goes the putt.
I may be one of the latest mallet converts, time will tell.

I've been scraping it around for 12 years with an old Ping zing and l have finally gotten the "time for a new putter" bug. I tinkered with probably 2 dozen putters, (all the usual suspects ) for an hour or so and as much as I liked the ease of alignment in the ghost that 330 mallet is even easier to align ( for me anyway), It will be my next putter.

Can't go wrong with the Rife Island Series Barbados...just got my wife one.

me too. It was hard to tell for me. On one shot it looked like a Rossie, but I swear on closeup it looked like a black series blade. I was awfully tired when I was watching though.

Small little rant here.... It's spelled "Greenbrier" not "Greenbriar". Seems like everyone spells it wrong.. OK Im done. lol

I saw a nice close up shot of the putter in question and it was definitely not a rossie. It had an oil can finish on it, 2 flange lines, and a sight line in the middle of them on the top line. Have not seen anything on the retail market that looks like it. Looked very similar to what Ernie has been using.
