Chipping Drills

I just realized today that I waste way too many shots from missing the green, so could you guys give me some drills for improving my chipping? Thanks

Most of the time all I do is take three balls, chip them to three different holes, and go make the putts, repeat, and repeat some more.

 

I need to remember to try the Towel Drill. Wet a towel, place it on the green, chip so the ball hits the towel and rolls to the hole. Teaches you to keep it low and run it instead of flying it to the hole.

I've found that hitting chip shots off of one foot has helped my balance. I also use a putting stroke with my chip shots, and I try and return the club to the playing position without minipulation. I fee that these two drills have helped my chipping immensely.

Any drills out there for judging distance correctly? The technique is fine it's just that I'm fairly hopeless at judging distance

try the ladder drill.

 

put like 4 differnet clubs perpendicular to where you are hitting on the green. place them about 5 feet apart from eachother. use different clubes to hit to each different distance, start with lob and you can work your way up to 9 iron. and you can also do this drill for judging carry distances. So go a little farther away and get ur sand or lob wedge and hit shots to each distance. realy helps on distance control and visualization of a specific spot.

My favourite one is to pick 9 locations around the chipping green and play out from each. The aim is to score 18 and it is really good at replicating on-course conditions.

I saw an interview with Annika a few years ago, and she takes her wedge into her hotel room with her. She picks a spot on the carpet, and just swings her wedge without a ball, hitting the same spot on the carpet a hundred times in a row. Then tries a different swing or different spot, and keeps going.

The next day, she hits the course and tries that same shot!

the best drill i know for chipping consistency would be: for right handers- all weight on left foot and ur right foot is up totally on the toe. left handsers just the opposite. by getting that weight all the way forward, u get better contact, spin, etc
