Bridgestone E6 vs E6+

I've been playing an E6+.

Over the weekend I'm in three stores...Academy Sports, Golfsmith, and a Walmart, only to find E6 golf balls. Same thing with the E5 and E7 series, none with a PLUS sign following the number. So I think that possibly the E6 is newer than the E6+, and breakdown and buy a dozen.

Google around a bit, and see different thoughts on which ball is newer. Some say the E6+ is newer (and softer). Bridgestone shows the E6 and not the E6+ on their website. Sent a message to Bridgestone to see if I get an answer.

There was an E5/E6 replaced by E5+ and E6+
They have gone back to the E5/E6 name just to make everything nice and confusing.

What you see in store shelves is almost 99.9% guaranteed to be the latest balls. Unless you shop at a flea market or something.

Here is the answer I received from Bridgestone. Whether or not there was an original e6 before the e6+ remains a mystery to me.

[quote]
There are no major changes in the specifications of each product, the e5
is still a 2-piece urethane, the e6 is still the softest multi-layer
ball, and the e7 still promotes a lower ball flight. The difference
comes in that each model has been improved. The e5 flies a bit higher
and has more spin around the green, the e6 is softer and will help
reduce even more spin and the e7 is generates faster ball speeds for
longer distances. The e+ series will no longer be in production.

Best Regards,
The Bridgestone Golf Team

I believe the original e5 & e6 were released near the end of 2005. The e+ series was released in late 2007 and the e7+ was released later in 2008. The construction/characteristics of each model has remained basically the same.

That's correct.

~2005 - 2007: e series

~2007 - 2009: e+ series

~2009 - 20??: e (v2.0) series

Dicks hosed me on a ball exchange because of this. I received a dozen e7 (v2.0), which I don't play, as a gift. I knew they came from Dicks because they had the green anti-theft warning sticker on the box. When I went to exchange them for a different ball, they said that they had most recently been on sale for $17/dozen so that's the only credit I could get (because gift = unopened, but no receipt) even though I wanted to do a trade right then for another box of balls. I told them that the lower price HAD to have been for a closeout of the e7+ for $17 and not the brand new e7s (which retail for $27 at Dicks), but the clerk refused to even double check. Whatever. I paid the difference and got the balls I wanted, but I guess I won't be buying anything else from Dicks. Plenty of golf options around me.

Dicks. Their name says it all, doesn't it?
