Puppet,

I love the putter cover as well as the rest of the sticks... what a great set-up. Can you comment on the Throttle? I am very tempted to pick one up in "X-Flex" as they are super cheap on the Bay. How does it compare to say a PL Red, Whiteboard, or any other "Low Launch, Low Spin" shafts that you have used? I hit a 9.5* SuperDeep TP with RIP 70S shaft and had great launch (12*), but my spin was in the 4000's, lol. Thanks PD
Thanks, I appreciate it. The Throttle is a really underrated shaft... low launch, low spin for sure, and it doesn't feel as terrible as say a Protopype. I would actually say that the feel is very close to that of a RIP, except it seems more tip stiff than the RIP profile. It was in some ways like an XPP7 but smoother, haha, if that makes sense. I have no data on it though in terms of launch monitor numbers. Funny you bring the Throttle up because I have a new uncut LDA edition in X that I'll be putting into an Adams 9015D head soon.

Sounds great! I just picked up the LDA in X also. If it feels like the RIP, but spins less I am going to love this shaft. I'll be sure to let you know how it ends up going... Keep us posted on your findings with the Throttle LDA as well and thanks again for the input.

Phenomenal looking bag Puppetmaster! How do the R9, SuperTri and Superdeep compare to each other? Also how do they compare to the Callaway FT Tour in terms of feel, distance, workability and forgiveness. I've been looking for a new driver and these are the 4 that have caught my eye.

what's that white putter headcover?

It's generic, picked it up on eBay for $12 or something like that.

Thanks. Where do I start? LOL. Here's a summary:

420cc R9 9.5* - hit this low but long on the course, muted solid feel, low launch and low spin
Supertri 9.5* - mid to high launch, good carry but no rollout for me, more metallic tinny feel but still a nice feel to it, higher ballspeeds with this than the 420cc even with the same shaft, on course distance wasn't longer than the 420cc but it was straighter and more forgiving than the 420cc so on average it was probably longer, spun a lot on my mishits which are low on the face and towards the heel
Superdeep 9.5* - hit this lower than the Supertri but higher than the 420cc (different shafts though), nice rollout on the course, seems longer than the Supertri and 420cc but I've only played one round on it on a course I'd never played before, feel is between the 420cc and Supertri

All were played in the R FCT position, weight configs as follows: R9 1-16-1, Supertri 10-1-10, Superdeep 10-10

Shafts I tried in each head, as far as I can remember:
R9 - Voodoo XVS6, XVS7, XPP7, Fubuki 73 S and 73 X, Matrix Ozik HD6 X
Supertri - Voodoo XVS6, XVS7, XPP7, Matrix Ozik F7M2 X
Superdeep - Matrix F7M2 X, Accra Tour Proto 65 S, RIP 60 X on the way

Verdict - the Superdeep seems to be the best of both worlds for me - smaller looking head at address with solid feel, lower spin, flatter trajectory with more rollout, but I'd game an 8.5* Supertri as a close second choice just for the forgiveness factor. The Superdeep is also 460cc and isn't as unforgiving as is being said, but obviously isn't going to be as lenient as the Supertri because of the weight distribution.

The FT-Tour is a great head, I loved the feel, but the X-Con 6 didn't suit my swing and I was getting spin in the 3000-4000 range and losing about 20-30 yards vs. the Supertri, so it was traded. I may revisit this again after my Adams experiment (two 9015Ds, one with a Speeder 757, and another with the above mentioned Throttle to be installed).

TM Superfast TP with Diamana Ahina 70 X; pictures do not do this shaft justice at all. It has the glossy black underside that we've all seen in the sneak pics, and the topside is this dark/black chrome finish down the length of it. Amazing graphics and paint scheme. It just arrived today and I've yet to hit it, but I'm gonna be up all night thinking about it. Sorry for the crappy pics but I'm in my in-laws for the weekend and they thought I was crazy as it was bringing a golf club into the house, let alone take pics of it.

review of the ahina? that shaft looks mesmerizing
Thanks, guys.

I've been travelling but I definitely want to get out to the range tonight to hit the driver.

On the JAT, that's one of my favorite putters ever, and I actually may send it into the SC Custom Shop for a full restoration. Unless I can find another one in mint condition (that I can afford), then I'll game this one. I used the Cali Del Mar this season and I'm not convinced that I like it, I'll probably go back to the 3.5 for now.

I managed to play with the Superfast + Ahina yesterday (at Laurel Hill, for you locals) and I think it has kicked all my R9 variant drivers out of the bag for now. In addition to the SF TP head being extremely solid and muted, the Ahina is an amazing shaft - super smooth but really stable at the same time. I was hitting most of my drivers mid launch and very very flat. I can't comment on distance yet, because I was trying something different yesterday and hitting everything less than 100% to see if I could improve on hitting fairways and greens. I guess it was pretty long for me not going all out, lol. Into the wind, it was definitely better than my ST and as good as the SD + Accra Tour Proto. Anyway, for those who are interested, my opinion is that the Ahina lives up to the hype and IMO, it really is an improvement over the WB.

Comparisons to other shafts? It is going to be close between the Ahina and my Accra Tour Proto. Both are different shafts in that the Tour Proto, IIRC, is more butt and tip stiff, while the Ahina is mid and tip stiff. Both are smooth with a slight edge to the Ahina, mainly because of the tip stiffness of the Accra, which makes it feel less smooth than it really is for a shaft of that bend profile. I liken the Accra to a Voodoo XPP, but way smoother. The Matrix Ozik F7M2 had been one of my favorite shafts for a while, but I think it is going onto the BST soon, maybe even along with the ST. I'm seriously contemplating getting another SF TP head for the Accra and would love to get some LM stats to compare the two. The last shaft to try on my list now is the Fubuki Alpha, but I could play the Ahina for the rest of my life now and be happy. Yeah right.

Cliffs - the Ahina is as advertised: a low/mid launch low spin shaft, with great smoothness and stability, and IMO, an improvement over the WB. I love it.

Oh yeah, I was supposed to get some Trackman numbers too, but a minor emergency came up after the round with my daughter and I couldn't do it. Hopefully, I'll be able to get some soon though.
