z star or z star x

I have played the yellow z star x for 2.5 months I have a fast swing speed 120 plus with the driver. How many fast long hitters are using the z star instead of the x? I just find the x seems hard and does not spin like the pro v did when I played it.

Same swing speed for me (120-125) and the Z Star X is definitely the best ball.

It won't spin as much as the Z Star or the Pro V1 because it is targeted at the higher ss golfer like the Pro V 1x is. It spins well, just not ridiculously, and the compression is really high which may explain why I get a ton of 320yd+ drives with it (more than either the Pro V 1x or Callaway ix ).......

Yes distance has never been a problem for me. Actually pulled out a pro v last night and did not notice any loss of distance over the z star x. I have never hit the reg z star. Might buy a dozen and give them a try... I did notice much better control and spin around the greens. We have not had much rain and the greens in central illinois are rock hard. So just wondering if the softer z star would give me a little better bite. I play the scratch 1018's with x flex shafts so I know I am losing some bite with the x stiff shaft. Might have to buy a stiff or a wedge flex and try it out and see if thats all I need.

That's another "fitting" myth.

While Titleist does indeed promote the "X" model as the Holy Grail for higher swing speeds ... that is not always the case. Ball fitting done [i]correctly[/i] takes into account the approach angle of the head, preferred ball position, groove design, head design, and many other factors. Some players (myself included) spin the ball an incredable amount with a not-so-high clubhead speed and the V1X works incredibly well for us.

...........and the same set of variables apply to other balls like the Srixons. There are no "Rules" pertaining to ball selection .... only "Guidelines". On course testing is the only was to determine the correct selection for your personal needs.

Like I said above ... I can't speak for YOU. But I played the Z-Star (non-X) for a couple of rounds, and was spinning it a ridiculous amount. Anything from a 7 iron or less was backing off the greens.

I was playing the X for about 2 months too and could spin them fine on full approqach shots but around the green there was way to little spin compared t my Call Tour IX.

Played the regular z star yesterday. Man do not listen to ball fitting just try it out yourself. This ball was even longer then the x and I could spin the hell out of it. The feel around the green was superb.. SO if you have found the x to be a little hard around the greens try the regular as I lost no distance even gained some I feel and the ball is buttery soft too....
