Course recommendations in Bermuda?

Heading to Bermuda after South Carolina, second week of September. Can anyone recommend any courses to play? I'm looking for the less PRICEY courses, I don't really want to explain a $300 greens fee to my wife :cheesy:

I played Port Royal last fall and it was pretty nice. I think it was about $140. I was there on a cruise and the ship booked the tee time for us. I think there was about a $10 difference between booking direct with the course and through the ship.

 

The layout was nice. There were some really scenic holes. A couple times, I just stood there saying "wow".

 

I rented clubs and the selection was nice. It's always a good sign when the guy says "Nike, Ping, Cleveland or Callaway" Uh.....yes please. :cheesy:

 

We were docked out on the other end of the island and it cost about $40 each way in taxi fare. We met up with a couple other guys that were going out there and split the costs of the ride.

 

The staff at the course was really nice and the range balls were included.

 

That was the only place I played while out there, so I don't have anything to compare it to but overall it was a positive expereince.

All golf in Bermuda is expensive. Mid Ocean is the best (Charles Blair Macdonald), it is well worth the price. Have your home Club Pro set you up there. Your Hotel may also have accses. Tuckers Point (the old Castle Harbor - Charles Banks) is almost conected to Mid Ocean. Tuckers Point is nice course since the redesign. If you are staying at the other end of the Island, you could play both in one day and cut down on cab fare. Make sure you hit the Swizzle Inn. Take a cab home - Swizzle + moped = Crash!

I got married in Bermuda, and I liked all three courses I played. I stayed at the Belmont Hole, so I played their course like six times (including on the morning of my wedding day, gotta love a wife who doesn't mind that!) and I remember it was really nice. Back nine is better than the front.

 

I also played the Fairmount Southampton which was fairly easy but nice views. The best in terms of views is the nine-hole Ocean View course. My wife and I played there three times and it was very, very nice.

 

Of course...this was 10 years ago this September (!!!!) so things may have changed. Hope this helps!

Guys, thanks for the tips! Turns out the govm';nt courses are offering a "play all 3 for $250" deal..dunno how that goes, depending on where we're staying. My wife's buddy is setting me up with some playing partners, so I may not have so much of a choice for a couple games. :cheesy:

Port Royal is a fantastic course and inexpensive since it is publicly owned. Tucker's Point is a good track too but pricey.
